Finally Decided -- Ds-Xml 150

Discussion in 'Lighting' started by Oulde Tymer, May 9, 2014.

  1. Thanks to everyone for their help and recommendations. After way too much research and consternation, I've finally made up my mind about which LED to go with. It is Advanced LED Light's DS-XML 150. It looks like a perfect fit for my 2x2 grow tent whether I grow one plant or four plants at a time. I initially was trying to go the cheap route, but I did some quick cypherin' and figured the ROI would come in about two grows. That made the decision easy, along with dealing with a company in the good ole US of A. Now that this decision is off my shoulders, I can get back to my life. I tend to be a little obsessive about things like this. Anyway, thanks all and good growing!

They are a great company to deal with, and are working on bringing fully built USA leds to us. They are already developed, just not available yet. They look promising though. It's called the ARC Series.

Anyway I have the XML 350 and it works great, love it! You will be happy.

Edit: Here's the link to their Kickstarter on that other light I was talking about https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/938548139/arc-series-the-grow-light-reinvented
I think it's relevant to show they are a dedicated company, working towards even better lights, and being USA built.

  3. Nice, I am in your position as well.. been trying to research good LED lights.. Originally was ging to go with the Mars II, but after reading a couple negative things about it I've been leaning toward the IntelligentGro II Intensity Series 270w (or possibly the 135w)

My flowering chamber for SoG right now is roughly 1.5' x 2' x 3.5' - so I am not sure yet if the Diamond Series would fit (it's 1.5' x 1.5') but I am kinda thinking it won't.

Did you consider any IntelligentGro LED lights? What made you go with the Diamond series?

The 135w IntelligentGro would probably be good for my small chamber, but I think I would go for the larger 270w for denser buds and the ability to expand my growbox.

However, if the Diamond Series are way better than these I could probably modify my box if it is worth it. Those 10w cree bulbs are looking mighty fine. The IntelligentGro LEDs are 3W.

I am still trying to learn everything I can about LED lights, so I am still unsure of what to buy.

    Any suggestions would be great!

  4. I have used the Mars II and currently I am using the Intelligent Gro LED. I definitely favor the intelligent gro's due to the controller function, more PAR output, much lighter design in terms of weight, and much much quieter fans on the intelligent gro. Feel free to visit my grow journal as I am currently in day 20 of flowering with my Intelligent Gro's. If you google my screen name, you will see my other Mars II grows on youtube and a different forum.

  5. sweet let us know when you start your grow i will pull up a chair and light up

  6.

did you consider the intelligent gro?

hey Atomo, i'm really sorry for the negative you seen, but do you mind make me know where you saw them? i need check what happened and then try our best ot improve ourselves, lol

  8. I actually ended up going with the Area 51 RW-75 light which seemed to fit my box specs the best.

@smokesara It's been a while since I was researching the lights I honestly don't even remember, sorry! To be fair I've heard way more good things than bad, but I remember weighing the pros and cons for a while and ultimately decided on an Area 51 light.. I still may end up trying one of the Mars lights at some point, it's been close to a year since I was researching lights so I am totally out of the loop right now.

hey Atomo, thanks for your reply, actually you know all the brands have negative feedbacks, lol

We also wish we can know which way we are not doing good, so that we can improve at that side.

Anyway, i also wish you can know more about our lights, and welcome you to our thread.

Of course they have negative feedback, hence the weighing of the pros and cons :p
I made that post about a year ago, though, so I really don't even know how much LEDs have changed since then..

I am, however, looking for small supplemental lighting for my flower box.. I don't have much room, not sure what to get. I was thinking of getting one or two of those Cree floodlights, unless anyone else has another suggestion? It has to be really small.. not sure I need it but I want to pack as much light as I can in there :)

  11.
lol, if you make me know the size of your grow area, i can try to recommend you a LED

  12. Good choice with the a-51...also a good choice with the cree side lighting...or pick up a cheap Mars oanel on ebay
