    Hello everyone

I've ALWAYS wanted to grow and the only attempt I've made was put to rest after 5 days of growth :(, but the time is right and I am going to make sure I do it as perfect as I can...hopefully with help from all of the knowledgeable people in this community!

I wanted to get advice BEFORE I start diving in and I still have about 5 days until my seeds arrive. I will list everything I will be working with and please let me know if there is anything you would add or change!

Seeds (I have 5 seeds coming and I'm going to plant 3 for the first grow and any advice on which 3 to plant is welcome! All are feminized and Indica dominant strains):

    Barneys Farm Seeds Blue Cheese
    Barneys Farm Seeds Critical Kush
    Pyramid Seeds Tiburon
    Advanced Seeds Shark Widow
Dinafem Seeds Blue Kush (free with order)

Germination: I plan on using the paper towel method with 2 seeds since I've had good luck before. For the other seed I am going to soak it in filtered water overnight then put it in a solo cup with saran wrap over it.

Soil/Ferts: Fox Farm Ocean Forest (mixing with 25% perlite)/ FF trio nutes
Lighting: 600w HPS with cooled vent

Tent Size: 4' wide, 2' deep, 5' tall (will be perfect for the standard sliding door closet that it's going in")

Misc. other items: Carbon filter, 6" 435 CFM Hurricane fan, mini clip fan for inside tent, pH up/down kit, thermometer/hygrometer.

Am I missing anything important?? :confused_2:

I'll start posting pics as often as possible (which will be often since I work from home most of the time) once I get everything set up.

    Cheers! Smoke on! :bongin:

  2. What size containers? Start and finish. I'm waiting for an order of beans and working with the same space almost. I'm using 500 true watts of HO CFL and Fox Farm Trio w/ HP Pro Mix. I am supposed to get a Blue Kush too.... Wanna pop them together and compare if it shows and germs?

  3. Thanks for the reply Jonny Blaze! I'll be starting in solo cups and moving into 3 gallon containers. Will that be big enough? I'd love to start at the same time!

  4. I am doing 3 gal containers too... Should be good unless your planning on vegging for a few months. I am waiting on 2 seed orders one from Attitude and one from Herbie's, both have already shipped. Here is a link to my journal...

There are some pics of my set up and all the details of my grow.

I will keep you updated on when / if my orders arrive... I have a good feeling about Herbie's but not sure about Attitude.

  5. Not sure about Attitude arriving? I hope so! That's were all my seeds are coming from! The package was showing as being prepared to ship overseas from Royal Mail as of Wed so hopefully I'll have them next week.

  6. Yeah I guess they have been getting some of their orders seized at customs... I guess their stealth shipping isn't as stealth as others from what I have read on the posts. Mine shipped a couple days ago but the tracking number they gave me isn't working. I think they will be fine... I didn't get any additional item so the packaging should be small enough to bypass the major x ray and scanning machines. I know that they are good for reship if you buy the guarantee and something does happen but I am ready to go I want my beans like now LOL.

  7. Gotcha! Yeah mine were dispatched on the 6th and the tracking number has said this since Tuesday. "Your item, posted on 06/05/14 with reference RU.....  has been received at our international mail centre and is being made ready for despatch overseas."

I will track again early next week and see if there is a change. Like their site says, I'm not going to worry until it's at least been 10 business days. I still have to set up my tent and get a few more items this weekend, but I know how you feel! I just want those little seeds of joy to arrive! I'll post pics of my tent this weekend.

  8. I'm along for the ride :) good luck

  9. Thanks gsizzle!  The more the merrier! I'm hoping once I start to post some pics and get these ladies started I'll get some more subscribers. Until then, I just continue to gain more knowledge on this site!   :gc_rocks:

  11. One thing you might want to get that helps you grow bigger plants is Spray n grow.  Here is some info on it when using it with growing marijuana.  And it does make a big difference in your plants.

    What is SPRAY-N-GROW?
A micronutrient complex, cultured in a water base, that acts as a biocatalyst. A professor at a major agricultural university stated that Spray-N-Grow is a balanced system of micronutrients reacting synergistically ... all components working together harmoniously that in effect perform as a single active ingredient. Spray-N-Grow activates dormant microorganisms in the soil, enabling plants to better utilize nutrients. It concentrates phosphate at the bud tips and causes the plant to produce more blooms and set more fruit; it reconditions the soil and helps restore it back to its Natalieural fertility by restoring microbial activity; and it also relieves built-up stress conditions caused by over fertilization, salt build-up and petrochemical use.

    Barium 0.147 Cadmium 0.115 Calcium 196.300 Chromium 0.085 Cobalt 0.024 Copper 12.840 Iron 1026.000 Lithium 0.050 Magnesium 1009.000 Manganese 3.470 Molybdenum 0.647 Palladium 0.035 Phosphorus 0.676 Potassium 3.326 Selenium 0.533 Sodium 5110.000 Sulphur 1959.900 Vanadium 0.115 Zinc 603.400

    Spray-N-Grow foliar feeding instructions:

    * The best temperature is about 72 degrees (when stomata on the underside of the leaves are open), at over 80, they may not be open at all. So, find the cooler part of the day if it is hot and the warmer part of the day if it is cold out.

    * Use a good quality sprayer -- should atomise the solution to a very fine mist.

    * Always be sure your light is off and cool before foliar feeding! For extra safety, wipe your bulb with a dry cloth after spraying and make sure H.I.D lights are raised to a safe distance (double the distance is a good rule of thumb) to prevent burning.

    * Make sure the PH is between 7 and 6.2.

    * To prevent the water from beading up (they act as small prisms) and thereby burning the leaves, for each gallon made add half of a teaspoon of liquid detergent (wetting agent).

    * Spray leaf surface -- the tops and the undersides -- until the liquid begins to drip off the leaves. Start 2 weeks after germination, 2 times a week and stop 2 weeks into flowering -- use sparingly on bud sites.

    * Dispose of excess spray after 4-6 hrs.

    * 8-ounce bottle makes 8 gallons of spray.

and here is the link if you want to buy some.  http://www.spray-n-grow.com/  and if you like it on facebook you can get other things for free with your orders.  Today I believe its a free hand rake that you get if you order something.

  12. Thanks for the tip @[member="MissBaracuta"]!

My tent is going up today! Pics to come!

The other good news is that if for some reason my seeds don't arrive, I found out that I can get clones here locally!

  13. Looking forward to seeing the tent! The tracking number for my Attitude shipment finally registered as valid but it just says that my package is progressing through the system. Getting real anxious to start...

Ok the tent is up! Here are some pics of the set up. I'm running some temp tests right now and am getting concerned about heat. It has been hovering around 86! The tent has a vent on the bottom where I am pulling air through with a plug in fan inside. The HPS has a shield and there is a 435 CFM Hurricane fan pulling the air out into the filter. I currently have the Hurricane at half speed, might have to crank it up...it just gets a little loud and vibrates a lot. Any suggestions to cool it down? I might have to take the closet doors off and say goodbye to the stealth aspect of it.

Closet with doors shut (I opened the door open about a foot when testing the temps):

Now while I try to figure out how to cool it down I will enjoy this beautiful Cavi Cone....mmmmmm

  16. What are the temps in your room the closet is in? To help with vibration I suspended my fan from the closet rack with bungee cords. Helped a lot. WalMart has sets of 2 for less than $3. You may end up needing a cool tube, that tent is sweet though

  17. Also, I read somewhere that you want your carbon filter inside the tent, pulling through it rather than pushing through it. Also you want your duct to be as straight as possible because angles (corners) reduce fan effectiveness by like 50%.

  18. I read that as well, just don't know how it will be possible to hook up the filter inside with the amount of space...

The temp in the closet is 71. I just switched the ballast to 400w instead of 600w to see if that cools it down. I also put another fan outside the tent blowing cooler air towards the vent on the bottom. We'll see how that goes. I took the closet doors off for now.

  19. Anyway you can get the ballast out of the closet? That may help too... Also make it as air tight up top so most of the passive air entering comes through the bottom where the cooler air is.

  20. I have just the filter in the top left corner and then ducting suspended with bungee cords across the top and feeding out the right side to the fan. It runs between the front and back pulleys that suspend my lights. Of course since I plan to ScrOG I have plenty of room at the top of my 6' tall tent. My lights will never be higher than 2 feet from the top.
