Maximum Yield In A 3.6Ft² Box?

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by awd, May 6, 2014.

  1. Hello guys, I am thinking of starting indoor growing. First thought was to do it in a pc case but I found out that the output is too little because there isn't enough space.. After thorough thinking I found out that I can make a 23" x 23" x 23" box look like a pc server and put inside the plants.

My question is, what do you think it would be the maximum yield that a space like this can produce??

**Let's say that we would choose every part (seeds, lighting, soil) very wisely and we would use the most efficient techniques!!

    Additional Info:
-My capital is limited to 450$
-I don't have any previous experience but I am very determined to do my research before I start.
-We need a strong strain and it is preferable to have a fancy color (purple, blue etc)
-The minimum yield for starting this project is 250grams. Is it possible?

    Box size in inches
    23" x 23" x 23" = 3.6736ft²

    Box size in cm
      60cm x 60cm x 60cm = 0.36 square meters

250 grams in a server sized case to me seems pretty far stretched.

    That's almost 9 ounces!

I'm no master grower but I really think that's way to small for the expectation.

Edit: if you haven't yet go through the micro grows on the forums. You'd get a really good idea of what those guys are pulling with their setups.

  3. It may be possible with a strain called THC Bomb. It's a high yielder, purple in color, and has a 20-22% THC content (very high-average about 15%)

Check it out on attitude seed bank. Price is a little high but I'm sure you could easily turn profit after one yield. Even if you dont hit 250 grams.OH! BTW MAKE SURE YOU GET THE AUTO VERSION

  4. Maybe you could get the yield you want if you make your grow box taller.

  5. If autos are your thing, auto bomb is a big yielder also, check my sig got a grow on atm, gone fairly easy so far little trouble with it even though I've messed up a few times.

  6. Wow! Big expectations mate, I really don't know what to say, I agree with Island Hippie.  :bongin:

  7. Being the realist that I am, I wanted to clarify my previous post. the THC auto bomb is a high yielder but your expectations of product are still unreasonably high. In actuality, despite your best efforts, a reasonable expectation would be half of what your looking to get. It seems as though your looking to fund a commercial project but on a personal users budget and space.

First thing, don't be foolish and try to turn a profit off what you grow. Your literally asking to serve a nickel upstate. (depending where you live) Your operation is too small to turn a profit worthy of the exponential risk involved with growing and selling. You can receive multiple charges for growing and distribution (again depending where you live).

You need to have "layers" to safely turn a profit with minimal risk while growing. If someone see's YOUR face and your growing at YOUR house its simply a matter of time before one of your "friends" or "customers" get pinched and throw you to the wolves to save themselves.

Simply put, DONT SELL. It's a lucrative business because of the risk involved. If you can't go big, don't it at all.

Secondly, if your not looking to turn a profit and simply are looking to get your moneys worth first time around.......buy a bud high in thc,
and simply pace yourself. And despite proper smoking etiquette, in this case its OKAY to be stingy. Sorry to piss in your cherios.

  8. ^this. With more height you could run a hps, 400w for your target weight. My 400w box is 30"x30"x56" though, a bit bigger than what you're trying to do. A 250 works fine in a 2x2x4, and a half pound is possible off a 250 (my best was 6oz) but if you want a half on your first run then I'd use a 400. Any of that can be done within your budget.

  9. I see from your answers that my expectations are really high, I also figured it out when I surfed a little in the micro grow section... I was reading patiently some journals until I get to their produced yield and every time I was like oooh again so little? Most of the times I was expecting for the yield to be around 250 grams and in reality was 100...

btw thank you all guys for your advice this forum is full of well informed people and the only thing I do is just asking questions and providing nothing back to the community...

  10. Well I see your point and you're more than right.. this is why I am so sceptical however it is a small amount and you can get rid off it easily and fast.. I dont know...

I have another idea... what about using a 55gallon drum and growing it inside? Is it an efficient case?  Standard drums have inside dimensions of 22.5 inches (572 mm) diameter and 33.5 inches (851 mm) height.  photo-> http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/c/ca/Fuel_Barrels.JPG

I read a journal about a guy who planted the seed in the center of the drum and he put the lights in the walls of the drum. I thought of something else but my knowledge concerning plants is very close to 0. What if we put lamps in the center of the drum starting from the bottom until the top. In this way we will put the plant very close to the wall and using the lst technique we can make it grow like this http://www.teletech.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2012/02/stairs.jpg what do you think? Would it be more efficient?

  11. bump

what do you think it is the minimum height for this project? :)

  12. If I was running a 400w HPS I would want at least a 1.6m height to work with.

I would feel comfortable building a box that's 24"x24"x30" and running 400w of cfl in there. I built one for a veg space back when I started growing, got (4) 4-packs of 26w 5600k cfls from home depot for $50. Spent another $20 wiring them to a plywood board backed with mylar and that thing served me well for about a year running 24/0. Never flowered with it though...  Here's a pic of it if you're interested

But if you want to run HPS I wouldn't go any shorter than 4'

I've also heard good things about THC bomb, never grown it though.

    Cheers!! :bongin:

  14. There are some changes so my box can as yours and even higher but the truth is that I have to consider so many facts before I build it and I dont know where to start.... is there any "quick" guide out there cause we're running out of time and most ebooks start from very general stuff which are usefull but I dont have the time right know... hahaha everything is so fucked up guys its like trying to stand in moving sand.......  :bongin:
