Neutering Working Cane Corso Need Help

  1. I know this is a weed forum but I trust your opinions more than pet forums.

So I have a 2 year old male intact cane corso with aggression. I have him to protect my home and family.

My question is I've read everything online, but does a neutered dog have the ability to protect like an intact dog. There is no dogs 101 for cane corso, but the one about dogos showed that a 90 pound dogo took out a fucking mountain lion to protect two little girls would he still have been able to kill the mountain lion if he was neutered?

  2. There's really no telling how it will affect him. There's both the chance that neutering will solve all of your problems and the chance that it ruin his value as a working dog. I personally would not even consider modifying such an animal. I would first work on changing his training and environment and providing outlets for his aggressive energies. Isn't that breed for hunting? If you dont let him hunt or have some outlet for that part of his personality you have the wrong dog.

    double tap.

  4. The breed was first used for hunting boar and bear bating in the roman colosseum then they were used for guarding property and accompanying butchers when taking meat to meat shop so they don't get robbed. What kind of games would satisfying his instincts. I don't actually want to take him hunting, but I want him to be a strong property protector. He's great with the family and people he knows. Not friendly with strange people or animals and he HATES vets. He's so gentle and submissive to my female shih-tzu. View attachment 1444455

I don't know why it keeps double posting.

  6. Its Not a cane but I was told if I deballed my beagle he would stop taking off and running around the neighborhood...
    I got him fixed

Well three days afterward he was back roaming the neighborhood...so I learned not to beleave what "everyone"says

And I feel you about pet message boards and help from that community. Never ask them for help with a sick dog lmao

I would guess it is in the dogs nature and what the dog was breed/made/evolved to do
Also how he was treated when he was a puppy and his younger ages will shape him as he gets older

I have heard of the sweetest dogs turning on the kids Ina Heartbeat

So I don't know, the balls is his manhood, makes him want to get pussy so maybe it will take away the aggression....I would look up what the balls produces for the body and its role.....sorry this doesn't make sense lol

  7. Yea give him an outlet for his aggression energies, just like he said it, it is a great idea and will help alot

  8. Don't have an answer for the aggression, but I have to chime in about neutering. I have a 5+month lab/husky who I've worked very hard to train well while he's Young. He's great about everything EXCEPT he has a problem with jumping on people when he meets them, which is a big problem because he gets muddy and scratches, etc. Anyways I got him neutered at 4 months, everyone told me that it would help correct his bad behavior. Fuck.That.Shit. Ever since I got him neutered he is fucking insane, he doesn't listen on first commands like he used to, he jumps twice as much, and is generally just more crazy.
Now not to say I won't ever get another dog neutered but don't believe everything you hear about neutering being a cure all for bad behavior.

  9. I got my pit bull neutered and it calmed him down a lot. If he thinks anyone in my family is in danger he will turn the aggression on really quick
