  1. Ok I just gave a brief "smoke outside and don't disrespect your folks" post but it made me think about myself.

How many adult smokers work someplace where there is a good enough spot to take a quick puff here and there? Being a maintenance man at a fairly shitty motel, my shop is my area and no one other then my immediate supervisor (who've I've smoked with since I was 11) goes in there. We are both heavy all day every day smokers so a couple times a day one of us will take a quick puff while gathering tools for the next task. Disrespectful considering the manager and owner probably would frown on it? Yeah I can see that for sure. Biggest difference is I don't exactly feel entitled to it and certainly wouldn't blame them if I get caught/fired.

    Thoughts?

  2. Can't imagine smoking during work, I have a challenging job.

  3. Fair enough for sure. I certainly don't mean to imply Shame on y'all for not smoking at work. Obviously it isn't the best action to be taking. I will also not change my habits based on replies, probably who knows. Just curious how comparable it is to the average adult GC member since I've never been shy to share my opinion about feeling entitled to smoke in someone else's house.

  4. I work at Visions, a ma and pa electronics company on commission based salary and I can just walk outside and light one up whenever I feel like. XD

  5. There's really no place at my work where I could smoke without the worry of being seen. Even the parking lot is a bad idea, since I work nights, the occasional flicker of a lighter in a car would be a dead giveaway. Couldn't imagine working while high anyways, I prefer to leave it for when I'm at home so I can actually enjoy the high to its fullest. Not to mention I have to do a lot of multitasking with delicate machines, while working around and handling chemicals such as undiluted potassium hydroxide (stealthy corrosive that never evaporates) and undiluted ammonium hydroxide (imagine the potency of cat piss multiplied several dozen times).

  6. I've been in emergency services for nearly 20 years - never had a smoke during working hours or standby in that time.

I think one resuscitation effort or multi-casualty trauma scene while blazed might wreck my head - ha ha!  Thats not why I don't, though - my crew and the general public I sheppard count on me - and I wouldn't do anything that might negatively impact the level of service I can provide.

My non-pager time is my own, though - and I can think of nothing I'd rather do than have a puff, out on a river with my dogs and a fly rod.  Its a big part of decompressing, for me.

Honestly - for myself - I don't think I'd be happy doing full time work that I could do baked.

  7. Apparently I underestimated the quality of employment for y'all. Good thing I've accepted me long ago or I'd feel quite inadequate right now ;)

  8. Ha ha - sorry man - I hope I didn't come off as condescending, because I really didn't mean to.

I was only talking for myself - and only to this point in my life.  15 years and I'll be retired - and perhaps casually doing some guiding on my local fly-fishing rivers and streams.

Part of that "experience" will include blazing some good homegrown BC bud for anybody I'm guiding thats interested - all part of the experience, you understand.

As much as I enjoy the level of responsibility that comes with my current work - at times it can be a bit overwhelming (especially as those call-outs over the years, that stick in my head for one reason or another - have accumulated) - and I'm looking forward to a time when the most critical call of the day will be when to switch to fishing the larger mayfly pattern!

  9. I didn't read into your post like that, just stating what was a pretty obvious fact. At no point in my life could I be accused of being an over achiever, nothing to be proud of but as I said... I've accepted me. You answered the question I asked, in detail and for that I thank you and all who replied.

  10. I could smoke if I wanted to, but often choose to do it after work.  More rewarding.

Plus my guy always has heavy indicas that knock me on my ass.

  11. Work first.
    Play later.

Always worked for me until I retired at age 66.

  12. I take too much pride in my job and don't want to risk it. I know how I get when I'm high and I couldn't perform like I normally do at work if I was high.. I just wait to get home. I don't smoke before work either.

  13. office job at a firm
smoke during my break. fairly sure a lot of people do too though.

it's a hit or miss though for me. sometimes I'm way more efficient sober and sometimes I really impress myself  while stoned stoned as balls with results, and then there are times where it really backfires and I just wanna listen to beastie boys and eat my shitty sandwich and not give any fucks the rest of the day about my tasks.

  14. I can't function properly if I toke at work so I save my herb for after I punch the clock.

When I worked at walmart, I smoked every chance I got during my work hours. So many factors that just aim to make me angry. People that lack common sense, mostly. I smoked in the parking lot in broad daylight during my 15 min break, smoked on my lunch break in my car and just jam to music. I don't smoke to the point where I'm totally fried, but enough so that I can deal with some more weirdos. I also don't drink coffee so it keeps me alert yet calm.

It surely didn't hinder my selling skills. I know what straight talk phone to recommend: the most expensive one. I worked in the electronics department until my back started to act up and now I'm pretty sure I have chronic back pain at the age of 23. I don't hide the fact that I smoke either. If someone asks, "Are you high?" I reply with a yes. I walk into my own store with a "Keep Calm and Smoke Weed" shirt on, on my off days. I don't give a fuck, really. I understand its a walmart job, but retail in general is just so easy when you're slightly baked.

  16. I run my own bees so yeah I smoke during work, a lot.

  17. i used to smoke at work, like on break and shit. or when there were no customers in the store id sneak out to my truck and take a hit. it was never more than a bowl tho, like for the entire night ya kno? so i was never really working high, i was just feeling nice, lol. now i only smoke after work bc i didnt want my performance to be affected, even if just slightly, its not worth it to lose my job.

  18.
    This.

Shouldn't you be at least sober when you work?

Smoking as something we all love aside, you really should be responsible about the things you NEED to do.

And I never really believe when people say how they can be normal after they smoke. That's like the same mindset as drink n driving.

  19.
Would you feel your green is wasted this way? As to that you don't actually smoke enough so you'd be high but just feel slight buzz.

  20. Yeah there's no way I could work and smoke at the same time. Being the only cook at a fast food restaurant, can't afford to be slow and mess up orders. I always feed slow/tired/lazy for about 6 hours after I smoke, for the first few hours I would be slow dumb and bad
