What's going on blades, my names Phil and I'm here to bring you my DIY grow journal. I have never built anything out of wood, so my carpentry skills are lacking severely. I didn't waste much money on seeds, bought a bag of them from a friend for 5 bucks.I've never grow before and don't plan on wasting money on fox farm stuff just yet. I germinated a few seeds, and have one guy thats popped and on his way with his leaves. I forgot two other ones i germinated and popped in soil, so they died LOL. Had to do a quick clean of my apartment,weed out and bong ready. Threw those guys in a closet I wasn't checking so they had their life lived.Anyway, germinating a few tomorrow and hoping they can pop during the week. Box Build - I started the box and I'm slowly building it. Still need a carbon filter, exhaust fan, hygrometer, and a few other things I'm sure. 3'x'2'1'6'' - Built a frame and then added my plywood and made some doors. I cut the plywood using a hand jig and t square clamped down. Not the best way but it worked. I was originally going to use the socket strip contraption because I could not for the life of me find the single light bulb cords. I found them online at ikea for 5 dollars a piece, so I made the 20 minute drive for 4 of them. I got a cutting board and ice cube trays while I was at it haha. My trip took me about an hour and a half to walk through the place, back issues are causing me to walk extremely slow atm, hence the need for this wonderful medicine of ours. I have constant back pain as well as IBS, so this small grow is going to be great for me. Made a reflector from a common diy I found. I drilled holes out in the tube and used the shade holder to mount the bulb cords. its a bit messy atm but I'm working on it, this pain is a little extreme for me so progress is a little slow on the finish. Painted the box flat white too, gotta paint the wood on the reflector. The fan is a little 9 dollars usb fan, I'll be using it and maybe another two for some circulation. Just using it to blow some air around as I don't have an exhaust fan atm. Any tips will be much appreciated, I went into this head first and know I will make mistakes - but I can admit to them so help a fellow blade out! How much water exactly am I supposed to be feeding this guy? I currently spray him every 4-5 hours once I feel the 2" is dry, but once hes bigger how much do I put in? ill be updating semi regulary, probaly every 2-3 days. Keep tuned in!
Just an update because I can. No nutes added yet still. I have another guy coming outta the ground that is yellowing at the tips of its leaves.
Anything I should do about the yellowing of the leaves? Gonna start my research on it after this post
Man, I have forgotten all about this thread! Damnit, I kept updating one on another forum that was getting responses but is now not getting anything. I guess I mistook a few quick responses for an audience. Anyway... We're about 2months in, going to switch to 12/12 in about a week. I LST'd my plant and it IS female!!!! Check it out! Its been moved out of the box it was in due to size issues with a bushy plant(it was only a foot and a half deep). I'll probably veg some more plants in the box once I flip to 12/12 and can use my old bulbs. Ill be building an ONA bucket as soon as my stuff arrives. Anyone have a suggestion on buying ONA in a store? I live by 0 hydro stores, the closest one is an hour away and on their website they have ONA. They list 1 liter of ONA for 18.95, but its not the fresh linen. I'd prefer fresh linen.
Also, for the naysayers, this seed was started in MIRACLE GRO SEED STARTER SOIL(haha, bet you expected it to be DEAD!), followed by a transplant to MIRACLE GRO ORGANIC(okay, a better choice here.. Organic soil is oranic soil, don't hate) and now after I moved it from 3 gal to 5 gallon I have put some FFOF in. While I'm sure its up and used whatever nutes was in the seed starter soil, I haven't had to give my girl nutrients in well over a month.
Nothing except for some blood meal and a little bit of dolomite lime. That said I haven't checked my PH once, nor do I have a kit, lol. Since I had a yellowing of the leaves and added blood meal, all is well in the world of cannabis.. for me, hah. Anyway, update for ya! About ready to head into the flowering stage, I'm gonna go ahead and put them in for a 24hr dark period tomorrow night. Will post pics of my Ona bucket contraption and plant tomorrow.
Hey guys.. heres my plant and bucket. I added a few 2700k bulbs in for flower. I made my bucket and man does it smell good. I used a cup of liquid with a gallon of water and a lb of soil moist. I have had NO smell WHATSOEVER from my plant so far so I don't know if its killing weed smell haha. Its not overbearing though as I seem to find people saying in threads about the bucket. Maybe its me but I have a shitty nose so who knows. Blaze on

I'm surprised I haven't seen them in stores/on the forums yet. The socket cords I got are from Ikea(named "hemma") for 5 dollars a cord are rated to 600(660 i believe but whatever). So attach one of these, run 4 23 watt bulbs over the plant on the left/center center/right if you get what I mean lol. But check it, I can then use the 2 socket cords I have left over(im using 4 right now) to run y split sockets for some added CFLage on the sides. eh eh hows it sound
That sounds legit. Are you planning on staying with cfl or upgrade? That'd be my deciding factor is it worth the money spent for so so gear or a little more for some 250 hps with a legit bulb or even 400w for 120$ ish just a thought she looks good! And not to sure about the NPK I play the organics game water only from plant to harvest . Hope you find some good info on the juice tho!
I'm 100% going to upgrade! For 120 bucks I can get a 250watt hps, throw in a good bulb and my yield will increase by at least 25% if not more! For the time it took me to get the lamp sockets and all the Y splits that actually worked... Include the money spent on bulbs (7.98+tax on a 4 pack) Well heres my exact breakdown lol Lamp socket cord - $5x4 - $20 Reflector Tube - $4 - $24 CFL Bulbs - $7.98x4 - $56 Chains/Hooks/Misc - $10 - $66 PLUS TAX! At more than $66 I'd rather go for the grounded(electrically) 150watt HPS you can get from HTG supply for 70 doll hairs. That's my opinion though. I went with CFL because I was growing inside the little box I made you see in the first post. My plant outgrew that so I just started using my closet(wish I would've just done that anyway lol!). Something didn't sit right with putting a 75watt or even 150watt hps light in a small wooden box. Cheers fellas!
Never fear the seedling is lost My seedling grew up into the CFL light, burn its leaves up entirely. I thought,shit, lost cause. I gave it a little water and let it be figuring what the hell... Well what the hell do you know it worked! She's growing back green and the tiny leaves I burnt are growing back in green... What a wonderful plant we have. I said that to a cop tonight... He chuckled but made a serious attempt to search me... No sir! I love getting searched by cops and they end up with nothing. I'm not some gun toting criminal, I'm a person in need of a medicine for my IBD. I didn't know talking about cannabis means you have cannabis on your persons lol. My budget is tight, extremely tight.. I spend any spare money I have on weed at the moment.. I know, sounds junky like.. but notice I said spare money. I have a savings of three pennies and a partridge in a pear tree(I didn't really get money growing up from relatives etc... you know, the 1000 bucks grandma gives you once you graduate or for big milestones in your life) With that, I started some clones about a week ago.. and one is showing roots! They are water bottle clones because a starter dome and cubes are a little out of my price range ATM. I just got a job though, so I indeed will be starting my savings for my next grow! I haven't sprayed these clones with water once or anything, woops lol. Anyway onto pics for pics!!
