Nah, you dont need to pay a robot a wage, its free labour, you just need to charge him up. All jokes aside, robots and computers are doing more and more in the world today, so how long before we are not needed in the work place.
Seems like it will always be cheaper to pay some one minimum wage than to buy a super expensive advanced robot that breaks down and needs repairs all the time (which then requires paying a specialized highly paid mechaninc to fix)
Good point, I didnt think this through. Having said that if a robot could run for 12 months problem free and then need a repair of £2000, you still have a massive saving by having the robot. On average people earn about 16000 a year, I wouldnt of thought a 12 month maintenance bill would come to that amount. So it could still be possible in the future, providing the maintenance isnt a stupid amount of money.
And also a good reason for techy minded guys like you to be the ones who charge all that money to fix them.... One door closes, another opens. MelT http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cIlvl66OZ_4&feature=player_detailpage
I fear one day they'll all kill us... I have this cleaning thing called an iRObot and I don't want them to get more advanced than a floor cleaner or mop.
I couldnt help think how many people would have a robot instead of a wife. She cooks She cleans She washes your clothes She wont get angry when you sleep with someone else And you just turn her off when she starts to misbehave Im very happy with my wife but theres a market for this im sure of it.
Affordable robots, some quite cool looking: http://www.intorobotics.com/eight-advanced-humanoid-robots-for-sale-at-an-affordable-price/ MelT And... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N6x2e1Zf_yg&feature=player_detailpage This one was quite impressive http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FOgKbJ-iEhM&feature=player_detailpage
For now that is true. But 20-30 years from now? Probably not that farfetched. Robots can make fast food and shit, put them in bags.
The drop in labor means cheaper prices. So it gets offset There will always be something humans can do to be productive Sent from my LG-E739 using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Intelligent computers are pretty far away. I very much doubt we will have anything like that for atleast 100 years or so. Even the most advanced computer ai to date makes a cockroach look like Einstein. Michio Kaku has suggested adding kill switches to advanced ai when the time come though. A robotic workforce will be coming withing 100 years I hope. So much wasted energy having people do crap work for crap pay. Get rid of money and menial tasks and humans will have all the time and resources needed to start advancing faster than ever. I can't wait to see biological computers at work and implanted into humans or genetically encoded into us. That will be pretty interesting to see what we can do.
