Cfl Lighting Distances

  1. Cfls put out light from the sides and not the tops... Remember this...

I whole heartedly think that CFLs on average are kept wayyy too close to plant parts. This then causes unexpected problems from heat, burning, ect. So kids throw nutes at the plants, when they just needed the lights moved up an INCH OR TWO!

I just want to see if others agree with me at all.... Or if I am just absolutely insane hahaha. =)

CFLs should be 3-4 1/2 inches away from tops/plant parts.... Especially when using high watt 2700k lamps during flower! ;)

    P. S.
Even smaller 6500k need moved up an inch or so..... An inch is just way too close. Just my opinion though!

  2. Glad I'm not the only one NOT putting them right on the leaves basically. Because. Folks say they don't burn unless touching..... That's maybe if you have a 15w lamp... But one inch or so from a 55w-200w CFL and it'll burn. For sure. My experience anyways.

  4. i always keep it like 2 cm away and there fine

  5. I think if I had cfls I'm a big room.... Oxymoron lol.... That it would be fine closer, but cab style creates more heat. IMO

  6. in flower i keep them as close as possible without any leaves touching..

in veg..i keep them about about 4 inches above...thats when they burn the easiest..

  7. When I had CFL's I would keep them 2-4 inches from the plants.
One of the leaves got close to a CFL, it did NOT make contact, & it ended up burning a large chunk of the leaf.
Not a HUGE deal, she'll survive, :p, but people with a large amount of CFL's may not know harm can come from not making contact.
