Nutrient Schedule For Hydroponic Autoflowers?

Discussion in 'Hydroponic Growing' started by highsince92, Apr 30, 2014.

  1. Hey guys,

This is my first time posting on this website and had a quick question:
I will be starting a hydroponic grow of auto flowering plants (2), and plan on using the FloraDuo A+B nutrients. I've been reading up on the auto flowering process, but one thing I seem unable to find is a proper feeding schedule, as auto flowers take less time. Can anyone suggest a autoflower-oriented schedule using these nutrients?
    Thanks!

  2. Its not so much the schedule you should worry about but more about your ppm levels. If you go to my thread im growing autos and also using the flora duo series :)

  3. Tried to look through this, too many pages for me to find the part on feeding haha first day on the grasscity job might take me a while

  4. Oh lol

    Well welcome to gc :)

  5. I'm seeing a post that a 500-600ppm using A for veg and B for flowering is the way to go, did that work out for you

  6. With the flora duo you use a and b together but during veg you use more a than b and vice versa during flower less a than b. Honestly the ppm is just to help you figure if she eats more nutes or if shes drinking more water than eating. Ideally you want about equal nute uptake as well as water.

I know it may sound confusing at first but once you get it down its easy :)

  7. Oh you also cut the nutes down because autos dont need as strong of feed as photos

  8. Ahh perfect, thank you for that, clears things up a bit for me! I'll be starting the grow soon so hopefully it's fairly simple to adapt everything to auto schedule haha
I'll definitely keep posting progress reports, have some auto White Widow and auto NYC Diesel, so excited to see for myself how these autos perform; expected yield varies from post to post so we'll see!

  9. Youre welcome :)

Awesome i subbed up to follow your grow

Both good strains but im actually finishing my first grow and i chose autos as well. My next grow ill be doing an auto ak and 2 more but im undecided on what else to grow lol

  10. I got my seeds from Attitude, was happy with the service but do you recommend any other US available seed banks?

  11. I got mine through seedsman.com they have a good selection and decent prices and freebies :). Also ive heard that herbiesseeds is good as well and gorillaseeds.com but theyre pricey

Yeah as Kev said you have to use both a and b to get the full spectrum of elements. They are kept in separate bottles because in that high concentration they will react with each other and some elements will be locked out and the plants will not be able to use them. Once mixed in the water they won't react though, so always mix them after diluting in the water.

For an explanation on how much to use click this link... http://forum.grasscity.com/hydroponic-growing/1198022-how-determine-what-your-plants-preferred-nutrient-strength.html

You will need to gIve them a veg formula for the first 4-5 weeks And a flowering formula for the second 4-5 weeks. The first and last 1-2 weeks will be a very weak dosage, most people use straight water. Most autos have a hatch to harvest time of about 10 weeks.

  13. You can germinate in rockwool but it's far from ideal. What is best depends on what hydro system you are using, but I don't recommend rockwool unless your system uses rockwool slabs. It holds too much water really and seeds and roots can suffocate

  14. I use whats called rapid rooter starting plugs they work great for me. Its kinda hard to describe what its made of lol i got mine from amazon 100 for $20.00 i couldnt pass it up lol

  15. Those seem fairly similar to rock wool, I won't have the same issues Goldgrower mentioned? How would I go about germinating the seeds in the plugs?

  16. Kinda yeah but i think its compressed soil.

Nope none of those issues at all :)

Have you soaked your seeds yet?

  17. Not as of yet, will be moving into my new place the 21st so I plan on starting then. Could you give me some step by step for germinating until transplanting? Can't find good help online no matter how much I search haha, can't decide between paper towel germinating and moving it to another medium, not sure honestly haha but that's the most confusing part (aside form the nutrition) for me

Ok heres what i do step by step and so far ive had 98% success rate with this style lol
1.find an empty pill bottle or a similar small container with lid then a piece of those cardboard nail files or sand paper. Put either the nailfile or sandpaper into the small container. If you do all the same strain add your seeds add lid a shake container for about 30 seconds if you do different strains do them one by one so you dont mix them up lol. After "scuffing" the seeds you put them into cups or other container with warm water and put into a warm dark place for up to 12 hours 2.place into warm damp paper towel and place in a warm dark place rememer if you doing multiple strains keep them seperated and labled lol. Let them sit in the papertowel until a taproot grows out check it every 4-8 hours then after tap root appears i get them into my plug thats been dipped into 5.8 phd water lightly squeezing excess water out plant seed about 1/2" down and stick into my seedling chamber no light until feeder leaves appear then hit them with light for about 2 weeks hand watering every other day with a rootstarter
