When ever I make homemade bongs I don't use plastic/metal pieces and tape anymore, I put a hole in it shove my downstem in. Make a airtight seal with sticky tack and then a carb usually do I don't ruin the seal. I've made quite a few bongs using this one downstem and bowl but if ya don't have a glass bowl to smoke out of you might as well just roll a joint. I used to be real big into homemade pieces but I always used a glass or diamond tipped drill bit and bought a glass down stem and bowl. The Makers Mark was my favorite, I prolly went through like 8 or so different ones.
