Making Some Qwiso, Important Question

  1. Hey everybody, happy tokin'. I have a question about some qwiso. I have watched a friend of mine as well as some videos on youtube of Rick Simpson himself explaining making his oil with a rice cooker and candle/coffee mug warmer. Is this a swell idea? It seems like it will work good, and the batch my friend made came out good, but was a darker in color such as RSO is. The solvent used was 99% Iso though, not Naptha like Rick uses. That's what I'll be using as well. He does a very long wash, which is why I believe the color is so dark, but I would shorten the wash because I focusing on dabbing my product not orally consuming it. I know the rice cooker  and mug warmer work well in purging the alcohol out, I guess I'm mainly curious to whether or not I can produce good qwiso with nice color by using the two heat sources. Will it degrade the potency at all? Thanks to whoever answers. I'm lit.

The more heat you use, the darker and more sedative it will get. You have the right idea with a shorter wash, and if you can freeze your materials before hand (including the mason jar) that will help reduce the chlorophyll and water being leached into your take.

If you can just wait it out, without using a heat source, that's the best flavor you can get for a qwiso. Any heat will def destroy any terpenes you might have been lucky enough to get with your wash. Even a coffee warmer ...hell I used to use an electric blanket, -too much heat.

But, degrade potency? No, just activate your cannabinoids, and make it a bit more sedative to dab (you'll get more CBN in the final vapor, I believe)

  3. Your spot on man. Since April when I posted that last post there, I've come a very, very long way in the hash game, as you could call it haha. I did endless research on different methods and what not. The heat, if at a certain temperature, can cause THC-A to lose a carboxyl group and merge into THC, which in sense makes the potency even higher; although, this is usually what causes the sedative effect you were talking about. My current method, that I don't plan on turning from, is freezing the material in the mason jar I'll be using to do the wash and the bottle of alcohol for 24 hours, sometimes I only do 12 but that's when I don't have anything. I then do a 20 second wash and strain into a pyrex dish and place cheesecloth over the top and let it sit out on my porch evaporating for 24-48 hours. I just call it good after that depending how it smells and feels, then scrape it up and place it in parchment paper, use finger heat to press it out (sometimes have to heat up the scoop part of the dabber and rub it across the paper), and then either leave it in that because it looks like some killa business or transfer it into a silicone container and enjoy. :) I use a quarter at a time and only do second washes with nug runs. It comes out shatter like sometimes, or snap and pull, never really a sappy, hard to work with consistency. The color is always a great amber or very light almost yellow product. Thanks for the damn reply though bro, even though it was months later atleast you helped out, nobody else would haha.

  4. As far as what you said with the terpenes was also spot on. I did a Mauiwaui x Mango batch and the Myrcene and Limonene in it were unfuckingbelievable man. Smell and taste wise.

Didn't look at your username until now... Sorry for saying man and shit so much, haha.
