Help For Ruptured Disc?

Discussion in 'Medical Marijuana Usage and Applications' started by jinga2112, Apr 28, 2014.

  1. I know the oil relieves pain from back issues, but can it do anything to actually help repair a ruptured disc? I'm looking forward to using it for pain as I develop my yoga practice, but have heard it can actually help regenerate disc tissue. Thoughts? And be nice, I'm trying to learn, here! :-D

ruptured disk...see a dr...keep seeing a doctor until the doctor has healed the damage and released you (healed as much as possible)

mj/mmj is not some magical elixir that heals and cures all things...it's damned good medicine, a safe intoxicant (safest), but it is not a cure-all heal-all herb.

if people want to ignore modern medicine entirely, don't whine about your third and forth world medical treatments failing you...

  3. Before going under the knife for a ruptured disc, look carefully at the studies comparing the results after five and ten years between people who accepted and those who refused back surgery (especially a fusion, but even a discectomy). More than 10 years ago, all the top surgeons in my city tried to sell me a spinal fusion to repair a ruptured and herniated L4-L5 disc. Fortunately, I found the studies and refused. Today I am totally pain free and never get so much as a sore back. My solution was not cannabis, however. I used various other alternative treatments including prolotherapy, IDET and VAX-D. Now I maintain my back health with good diet and exercise and simply an overall healthy, active lifestyle.

  4. Trying to avoid the knife, which is why I'm asking questions. Looking mainly for pain relief, although curious about additional healing effects.

  5. Cball. Read my initial post. Looking for info. Be nice. Now go away.

I can tell you from experience that you are fucked. Nothing will fix you short of surgery.

Even surgery is a 50/50 shot.

Iv been limping around for 27 years, had surgery that was no good, and hurt like hell every minute of every day.

Love the herb but it dont do jack shit for back pain. Like putting a band aid on a gun shot.

  7.
To be fair, there's a lot of misinformation flying around here, stating that mmj is a panacea, and it's dangerous at times, and actually can lead to a de-legitimizing of cannabis as medicine.  So I understand the kneejerk reaction.

    I gave you sound advice...but I will repeat it...SEE A REAL DOCTOR.

  9. Ever look into Rick Simpson Oil(RSO)?

  10. Reading a book on it right now...there's tons of info! I like to get a variety of input.

I'm pretty young and I've been dealing with severe back/neck pain for the last 3-4 years. That is what I said (not directly to my doc), when my doc told me that cannabis is such a evil drug and it will cause psychosis and addictions, and that I should just take Advil. Advil does not do jacksh17 when you are in severe pain. I said "taking an Advil when you are that severe pain is like putting a bandaid on something that needs stitches."
Surprisingly I found cannabis helps immensely, almost like a needle, but it has to be the right strain. A couple tokes in I begin to feel it, maybe around 1/2 way to 3/4 through the jay, after a toke, I will literally feel all my muscles relax and sink into place, my bone pain becomes non-existent and so does my nerve pain.
Doc's don't really do shit, other than treat the SYMPTOMS, not the actual problem. They'll do scans and send you away until your condition worsens to the point you need surgery, and then they tell you to go under the knife. I have yet to find a solution, but It's pretty much up to me to do so.

  12. THC can relieve pain as or better than opiates do.
aside from pain relief the most benefit offered by cannabis in this regard is its antioxidant potency. Think in terms of reducing inflammatory response/damage. Increasing circulation.

But IMO as part of a more comprehensive therapy plan. I'd utilize it absolutely but not by itself for your condition.

  13. Get an inversion table . And hang upside down smokin a jay . I do that 2 x a day . And also rub a super consintraction tincture on your sore anything really .I use 50/50 alcohols / glysceryn tincture . Works great .

Not sure about the disc healing thing but I had a ruptured disc about twenty years ago.  I saw a surgeon and he said before I do anything to go to some physical therapy.  I did and it did not help.  the whole time I smoked pot but not medical grade.  I wasnt about to get any kind of surgeory.  after about a year and a half it had slowly went away and I have not had any problems with it in about twenty years or so.  I also switched from my water bed that I had been sleeping in for a decade and went to a normal bed and have not even had any back problems since.  Had a pinched nerve and could barley walk for a year and a half.  Back of my ass, back of my knee and back of my ankle hurt 24/7.  Hang in there, it can go away and wait a good long time(years)before deciding on surgeory.

Guy I work with rubs bho on aches and pains and swears it works wonders.  Never tried it myself.

  15. jinga, I feel your pain.I had a laminectomy 07 at L4-L5 fixed the foot drop but did nothing for pain management.Have two others bulged same area.Best thing iv done is try too eat mostly vegan too bring down the inflammation and find a cannabis strain that helps. This might take some time because everybody is different.people react differently too pain pills pot is no different.Took me two years of growing to find a good one that works for me.I find that high cbd strains work best.also a good book to read is healing the gerson way bycharlotte gerson. Unfortunately most people I know with back problems will tell you u may never be pain free but I have met a few that have had fusions and doing great no pain at all so good luck and hope u find something that helps cause chronic pain is real bitch.

  16. Im in the same boat, I had l5 s1 fused and it helped alot! Now, I'm getting arthritis and degeneration going on. The sciatic nerve takes forever to heal. I've found pain meds help, but only temporarily.
I stay away from them completely. Over a long time, I realized nothing will stop the pain. You just have to cope with it the best you can.... Good luck!

    Indica for me please..^_^

  17. best indica I have ever grown for night time smoke was barneys farm blue cheese. But make sure too double up on carbon filters cause its a stinker LOL.

I'm heading into my second back surgery in the next couple of months, I'm putting it off for as long as I can, but I'm closing in on my pain threshold and sanity!
I have severe degenerative disk disease and a vertebra that's breaking...
Riding horses probably doesn't help my cause

In any event, I was vaping pretty high end, potent CBD for a while and it did help, but that's bc CBD is a very effective anti-inflammatory.

That's all well and fine, but regular ole weed helps me sleep and takes the edge off just enough sometimes for me to actually fall asleep withOUT taking Percocets all of the damn time like the Drs want.

I don't think enough testing has been done or regenerative properties, though I may be wrong.

Good luck, back problems are the worst!!
