    I will be updating this thread every time I make an edible.

    Introduction: I have been on these forums for a year and in that time have learned valuable information on cannabis, including edibles, along with many many laughs. Before I found BadKats very effective recipe, I made firecrackers, which only worked once (335 F for 30 minutes [burnt] left overnight in fridge ate when I woke up) and tasted nasty, but got me pretty high.

    Weight: 135 lb, Height: 5'6", muscular body (bench 200).

    I use LouAna coconut oil (made from hardened
    coconut by-products called Copra after all the
    "premium" coconut content has been removed. It is heated up, bleached, refined, deordorized and then processed with lye).


    1st experience (420):

    --Using Louana oil
    Decarbed ground stems twice at 225 F for a total of 40 - 45 min. Then waited until completely cool to open jar with foil and top on. Then chopped very fine (no pice bigger than 1.5 mm). Left out for 9 hours overnight.

    Decarbed .7g (bad mids) ground up uand spread out into a thin layer in jar. Cooked at 225 F for 20 minutes (4 minutes after turning on oven) then opened oven for 45 seconds, shut, and let it sit for 30 minutes. Jar still pretty warm. Waited until jar cool to touch to open lid and it still skunked up my room. Then ground up into an almost power (kief looking).

    Soaked weed and coconut oil overnight for 7 - 8 hours in a removed metal cupcake section and cooked while oil was still solid.

    Cooked at 250 F for 6 minutes, then reduced to 222 F for the remaining 45 minutes. Can smell the edible smell over vent a bit. Smashed with a small spoon. Herb is dark brown, oil is dark green.

    Then cooked an additional 45 minutes, shut off oven and didn't open for 35 minutes. Mixed oil and weed when oil was solidish (so it's mixed evenly with more weed touching the oil) and left covered with same foil for 7 days.

    Then froze 6 hours. Strained and lost some oil due to absorption into cloth (.1 - .2). Oil dark green still. Refrigerated overnight and spring valley lecithin capsule added when oil is melted on low. Let cook 25 min then took off stove and let sit for 30 minutes then froze again.

    Haven't smoked in 3 days (smoked kief + resin evening Thursday not much though)

    7:25 Finished a 2 egg (no yolk) sandwich with miracle whip and 1 piece of bread.

    9:55 finish eating pb + cheerios (2 tsp + 3/4 c)

    11:02 - 11:07 (+0:00) Finish eating grits + oil ( half pack of instant grits). Took 5 min to eat. Hot head for a minute. I take a walk down the train tracks playing my weed music and freestyling.

    11:49 (+0:47) Feel like it started not sure. Gonna leave my spot. I sit in front of the entrance path on train tracks and the rocks make slight patterns, I look at the trees and see Bob Marley with a fro. Too cool lol.

    11:54 (+0:52) Feel my pants. This is usually one of my first feelings after smoking. 11:56 I'm high for sure.

    12:20 (+1:18) Cottonmouth

    12:58 (+1:56) not too high and stop recording experience and smoke a blunt.
     
  2. Great structured thread, bravo! I love these types of threads and id love if you kept it updated.

    Perhaps you decarbed too long for mere stems? Usually mids is decently old so you may have decarbed too long. Try using unrefined, unprocessed coconut oil. Read up on it - there's a major difference health wise and also extraction wise.

    Great method and documentation man. Seriously

    Decarb: Cooked in cupcake section for 20 minutes and let cool 5 min in oven then shut and let cool for 15 min.

    Cooked oil + lecthin (from Spring Valley lecithin caspules) for 1 hour on low and added to weed while still warm. Let sit 30 min then froze 30 min and melted + mixed evenly (what I mean by "mixed evenly" is: when coconut oil + weed mix is semi-solid and you stir so the weed doesn't just sit at the bottom, it's "mixed evenly; which also creates more surface area of weed).
    Let it sit 6 - 7 hours.

    Cooked for 20 - 60 minutes, oven preheated to 250 F then reduced to 222 F when inserting oil.

    Froze and unfroze 6 times for 6 - 24 hours each time.

    Cooked again for 6 min 222 F, then 15 min 350 F and froze immediately.

    *will add pictures whenever I can (But the oil was brown, not dark green, brown.)

    Strained with oil soaked peice of t-shirt. Worked fine, oil didn't spread throughout cloth like last time.

    Experience:
    4:46 Ate 3/4 cup cheerios and 1.5 tsp PB

    5:58 finish eating oatmeal (little more than half the pack. Finished in 5 min) Licked clean ;)

    I head over to the train tracks to turn up to music and freestyle, walking the whole time to get the cannabinoids flowing.

    6:45 (+0:47) may kick in soon, feel my pants

    6:52 (+0:54) yup it works, head swimming (not dizzy at all) (and its hot in here which could be the reason)

    7:00 (+1:02) not that high, head high. ^I thought it would get better, but it didn't

    7:08 (+1:10) songs feel longer

    Basically a 2 hour buzz. I believe it's because oatmeal digests slower due to fiber and because some THC was vaporized at 350 F for 15 min cycle.
     
  4. Thanks, man. I made this because I want to know what works best and which factors make the most difference in potency. I wrote it very detailed because I knew I would forget something :p
    And I actually have some extra virgin coconut oil now, I can smell, taste, and see the difference. I'll post a report whenever I make the oil.

    Cooked 1.7 grams of leftover weed, which was used to make a 12 hour on low glycerin tincture. Didn't work too well. Took the. weed out of the cheesecloth and covered by extra virgin coconut oil and lecithin granules added (1/8 tsp?).

    Glycerin tincture:

    Turned on oven to 220 and put in .6g ground up bud that was used to make kief. Put in a glass jar, lid lined with aluminum foil to prevent gas from escaping. Cooked 20 min

    Oven turned off, but not opened for 3 minutes. Opened a crack for ~11 minutes. Herb is now brown, no green. Let sit until cool.

    Broke up .65g of bud leaves and small pieces of bud, and .39g of vanilla smelling mids. 15 ml glycerin heated and kief-spent buds put in @9:45.

    Vanilla and leaves decarbed at 220 F in oven for 19 min and cracked for 10 min left until cool then run through strainer to grind up. Put in mix @10:48.

    Cooked and stirred often until 12am, when I went to sleep and stirred every 90 min. Pot was between low and off until 7:00, where it was turned to low and kept there until 8:46 and stirred about every 15 min. Taste test at 7:25, tastes like how a good weed plant smells in veg.

    Oil:

    Cooked on 220 F 1 hour 10 minutes, then turned oven off for another hour. Put in freezer for an hour more. Melted on low and strained.

    Experience:

    I ate a pack of target brand cheese crackers about 35 - 50 minutes before eating a little more than half a pack of grits and around 1g in oil. Ate it over the course of 8 minutes; (half eaten in first 2 minutes) 11:49 - 11:57.

    While I wait for the grits to kick in I'll provide you with some other details earlier today.

    Right after I ate the crackers, I headed outside and took 4 - 5 med-large bong hits (1 1/2 bowls) over the course of about 40 minutes, but of course it felt like an hour way before 30 minutes :bongin: :D
    Very high.

    I was also walking for an hour and running a little. Now, 12:10, I'm sitting on the couch straight chillin'.

    **Timing will be from first bite.

    1:02 (+1:13) - face tingling a little on sides pleasantly. I really want to eat. Drank .4 L water in last 30 min. And water seems to "active" the high so to speak.
     
  7. Since I can't edit the above post, I'll conclude it with: it didn't work.

    I made an edible with a gram of mids a few days back and it DID work. :yay:

    I ground it up in a grinder (upside down of course), then put it in a 4 oz. baby food jar, screwed lid on, and decarbed at 220 F for 10 minutes, shut off heat, and cracked the oven door for 10 minutes. Once completely cool, I dumped the MJ in the top compartment of my grinder (so it wouldn't touch the kief screen) and ground upside down again to get a finer consistency, though it was never close to a powder. Put that back inside the jar and covered it with soybean oil. Gave it a little mixing and threw it in the oven at 275 F for, I think, 30 minutes. I switched the temperature constantly, but never above 325 F. I remember the total cook time being 45 - 55 minutes though.

    Took it out and let it cool completely. When I took the lid off, I was blasted by a strong ammonia smell, and feared mold, but after the experience, I figured it was the soybean oil changing its structure due to heat. Strained with a cheese cloth and stirred in with about a third of a pack of instant grits (cooked). Didn't taste bad. I hadn't eaten for 4 - 5 hours, except literally 4 peanuts and 2 lecithin pills an hour before.

    It kicked in in an hour and a half subtly. Was never strong, but lasted around 3 hours. It improved my mood and got me a mild high, but I liked it and thought it would be great for anyone with anxiety or depression, or just in a bad mood. I'd take it if I knew it would be a hard day at work or had a cold.

    5.75 g of leaf picked off buds, small stems, a little bud (all from mids). Ground in my grinder upside down until as fine as I could get it. Put in a 4 oz baby food jar, cover jar with foil and then screwed lid on to make sure its airtight and the lid doesn't come off (which happens a lot with these jars).
    Decarbed at 220 F for 10 minutes, cracked oven door, but forgot to turn off the heat and left it for another 10 minutes. Let it cool and ground it up the same way again, getting it to a finer consistency.

    Put it back into the jar and added Nature's Way virgin coconut oil and a tsp of soy lecthin (probably too much). Covered with foil, screwed on lid, and...

    275 F for 25 min
    Opened oven for a bit and closed for 10-15 min
    220 F for 10 minutes, then 300 F for 5 min (I believe a significant increase in temp is necessary, may not be, but it has never failed me)
    Opened oven for a bit and closed for about 5 min
    Total cook time: ± 60 minutes, 40 min where oven is on.
    38 hours stored in 75 F
    Cooked 35 minutes at 220 F
    Stored 24 hours in 75 F

    When strained, I got 3 1/2 tsp. I'll estimate that I lost .4 g. So that's about 1.52g/tsp.

    I ate a handful of Planters peanuts 45 minutes before eating a third of a pack of instant grits + a tsp of oil at 7:50.

    8:30 - I have cottonmouth and am feeling it.

    8:55 - drank 3 gulps of milk

    9:25 - got out a roach from my collection and smoked half a bowl from a bong.

    10:29 - still high. Feel my pants.

    1:00 - not high

    Summed up: it worked, i got a nice, relaxed buzz/high for 4 hours. This was more of a tester dose and I'll take more next time.

    Using above recipe, I used the remaining 2.5 tsp if oil, which contained about 3.75g of leaf, bud, and small stems from mids.

    2.5 tsp (about 3.75) mixed with half a pack of instant grits. Eaten over 10 minutes. Ate oatmeal and 2 tsp? Of coconut oil 4 hours earlier. It was my first meal.

    1:10 - started eating

    2:05 (+0:55) - feeling something

    2:20 - 2:35 - smoked two really good bong rips. High. On the first I was afraid of going over.

    2:42 - the marijuana train has arrived and will take off in 4... 2 ...0 GONE. Time dilation, music enhancement, head is in another realm haha I'm stoned. You know how it feels.

    3:00 high declined a bit.

    3:30 munch out.

    4:20 sleepy as fuck and yet still hungry with a full stomach. This is what I like to call thanksgiving munchies... I ate the kitchen. Then went to sleep.
    ...
    Woke up and ate a bunch of cereal and chicken soup. Slept for 40 min, ate some more, slept. Repeat. Until 6:30.

    Woke up at 1:00 not high at all. So I got high ;)

    It enhanced the high significantly then made me go food zombie. Love it. Wish I used dank though, always a next time.

  11. I've decided to try firecrackers again, this time I'm using aciid's recipe.

    I weighed out 1.3g of brown mid grade weed and ripped the buds into small pieces (about the size of the red part on a bic lighter). Made a nice sized aluminum bowl and put the buds in there. I then pinched the bowl shut, but didn't crinkle the foil to make it airtight, I left a slit at the top.

    I decarbed in the oven at 245 F for 15 min. When it came out, it smelled good and crumbled to dust when pinched. Threw the weed in a small glass bowl and chopped it up with scissors until I didn't get any more hard to cut pieces. (They were now too small to cut). The decarb didn't stink up the place at ALL, but the weed didn't stink much to begin with

    Then I heated some Clear Value peanut butter in the microwave and mixed it with the grinded weed. Added a tsp of extra virgin coconut oil, mixed thoroughly and let it sit for 24 hours, mixing occasionally. ***My best edibles were always the ones that sat out for more than a day, so I'm doing that with every edible from now on.***

    I went out and got some cheese crackers, took out the cheese and added a glob of PB to 4 of them. Topped each with another cracker and wrapped em in a layer of aluminum foil. Then they went into the 350 F preheated oven. Cooked 20 minutes, then cranked up the heat to 350 F for 2 minutes. Took it out and let it sit on the counter to cool, before I stored it in the freezer for 22 hours. Peanut butter is darker than expected, probably because I didn't put as much PB as I should have on each cracker, and because the oil I added made it more runny.

    Experience:

    I took lecithin pills the day before and the day of the experience. Being hopeful.

    11:40 - ate a bowl of cocoa puffs and took a tsp of coconut oil right after.

    2:45 - I begin eating the crackers (1.3g of mid inside). And holy shit are they nasty... I gagged on the first one... The struggle is real lol, it did get easier when I tried to avoid it touching my tongue while chewing tho. 15 minutes later, and all 4 crackers are eaten and I chase them with a lecithin pill and some water.

    3:30 - I believe it will start very soon, my Spidey senses are tingling lol. Slight cottonmouth noticed.

    3:40 - it has most defiantly kicked in.

    4:20 - ate a tsp of coconut oil. Its Dave Chappelle time :D took a bong rip. It was new weed and tastes like the first weed I got stoned from, that was a great surprise.

    5:00 - I took 2 bong rips, I'm high haha. Had to have food, so I ate a little PB (no weed in it)

    6:00 - cottonmouth strong. Ate ramen noodles, got firecracker taste burps. At a 4. Took a 2 bong rips and music is very different ( better )

    7:00 - riding at a 7, very relaxed. Straight chillin'.

    8:00 - purple and green flashes of light come into my peripheral vision every once in a while. Red eyes (I never get red eyes).

    After 8:00 I was sleepy, so I closed my eyes and drifted off into a nap.

    Goes great with smoking. I believe I needed to take more. The PB may have been slightly burnt. Good high, but doesn't compare to oil really

    If you know about the badKat canna-pharm, why are you experimenting?

    You said in your first post that you had good results following BKS.

    Why not follow the recipes there and know that you can expect good results???

    This is not an attack on you, just thinkin' out loud.

  14. Its more of an experimental thread. Badkat's recipe works well, but I'm curious if any other recipes compare. I understand you tho, I'm just in a hippie/scientist mindset.
