Hey, so the title is kind of self explanatory. I've become quite the lard ass due to a dramatic increase in the sedentarism of my daily life. I posted a thread about my fat fuck woes in another section (forgetting which one now, probably real life/general), one of the suggestions was to throw myself into a combat sport and I quote "Like a man". Now I'd already thought of this idea, and I've been considering it for years, so I figure now is as great a time as any. As far as experience, I'd say I've been in more fights than your average person, so I'm not a complete retard in that regard, although I'm sure once I start up whatever I do my sparring partners will truly teach me how much of one I have been. Now that we have some context, which combat sport would you guys recommend? I've been leaning towards boxing, as the tags to this thread suggest.
ive always liked boxing/sparring....but that may be a bit overwhelming at first as im a bit of a crazy mofo...im sure other blades will post some better ideas than mine.
Thank you three for actually replying haha. I have been recommended Jiu Jitsu for the 4th time now one of those recommendations coming from a kickboxer, over 2 times for boxing, and one for judo, so Jiu Jitsu it is. Thanks again.
you will love Jiu Jitsu it's so fun I'd recommend checking out Gracie Barra they have really nice facilities & great staff plus they are located all over the US "& know When you come to the ground, you're in my world. The Jiu jitsu mat is the ocean, I am the shark, and most people don't even know how to swim" -unknown Who Dat!
Muay Thai, great fitness and you will learn how to fight/defend yourself. Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
Thanks for the info, and for the other replies. I'm still considering Muay Thai and boxing, but I'd rather have Jiu Jitsu as a base for whatever I choose to expand on, thanks again guys.
Hell yea my uncle is a trainer at Gracie in the las Vegas area. Their some badddddd motherfuckers. Lol
If you're in high school you could do Wrestling, which is what I do...if you don't have the $ for Boxing or BJJ, Wrestlings cheap and it's imo one of the best combat sports for conditioning especially, next to boxing I'd say Wrestling has by far the toughest conditioning. Not to knock BJJ, its tough and ver yrespectable...but Wrestling demands you to always be in the dominant position...and to keep that position while shutting down any resisting from your opponent, which means every time he stands to his feet...you lift him up and slam him back down. That works core strength, Muscular endurance, and strength since you're lifting a 170+ dude over your head and throwing them.
