Best Vape For A Newb?

Discussion in 'Vaporizers' started by PhoenixTattoo, Apr 25, 2014.

  1. I started using MMJ about a month ago from chronic complex migraine. It's a lifesaver, but I'm a long-distance runner and would like to switch to vaping so I'm not inhaling as much smoke. This past month I've smoked almost nightly. I don't need much. One or two solid hits at dinner time so I can eat.

I know very little about how vaporizers work or what's out there or how to prep the bud. If someone could give me a quick earful, I'd be appreciative. I'd also like suggestions on the best models for my needs and where I can order them.

Right now I'm looking for something that is efficient and will last me a while. I'd like to have something I can set up and take hits over the course of the evening. I don't have a ton of money, but historically I've spent about $200 a month on pharms for pain and I'm completely off pills now, so I do have cash to spend.

I'm also, eventually, interested in something small and portable for on the go. I work for myself and it would be nice to have something I could hide in my briefcase in case I get sick midday.

  2. I just bought a magic flight launch box for something like 100 USD. There is a slight learning curve, as with most vapes, but after a few hits you get the hang of it and can produce some sweet vapor hits when used properly. It's incredibly simple and you'd most likely find yourself to be a master after just a few days. The taste is amazing and all of them are insured under the companies lifetime warranty (unless you buy off a non-registered seller like eBay or Craigslist). I'm not saying this is the best vape for your $200 budget, but I am more than satisfied with my purchase.

Oh and also one thing that is really awesome about the MFLB is its size, as it fits in the palm of my hand. Happy toking :bongin:

  3. The magic flight launch box is great for portability and stealth. It also produces nice vapor and will definitely get you the effect your looking for off of 1 or 2 hits.

You also said you want something that you can set up and take hits over the course of the evening. Now, I don't advise that you leave your vape on when you're not using it, but you can set it up, and turn it on when you wish to use it.

Anyway, I think one of the best vapes out there for what your looking for is the vapir no2. I have one and I use it every day. It heats up fast, and is basically fool proof. You can turn it on, hit it, then turn it off. The bowl lasts pretty long on it.

  4. Get an extreme q 4.0 , you can get one for i think about $150 on gotvape with their price match

  5. Can't get any easier than the arizer solo at puffitup.com. great flavor, super efficient, very easy to use and clean. No learning curve, no fine grinding. Just load and it's ready. Puff and go. Damn I sound like a spokes person. I'm just excited about getting one next month and very high. Look into it atleast. It's only $160.

It boggles my mind that people consider the MFLB to be a good vape for a noob. Why not something that doesnt require so much technique to not fuck up the hit? Why not something that readily gives massive hits with no chance of combustion instead of something that takes practice to get even medium hits out of?

Who the fuck is the gonna get the effect they are looking for off the MFLB in two hits? Extreme light weights?

edit- shit I forgot everyone just recommends the vape they have on this forum no matter what and then try to justify it some how to fit in to OPs needs.

  7.
So...was this going to come with a recommendation?

  8. Pinnacle, inhalator, solo, pax. All noob friendly vapes.

  9. I just switched to vaping myself, for similar reasons to you. I did a lot of research and talked to people, I went with the solo. Great quality hits and you can use at home or on the go. I dont recommend walking around with it though. If you only plan to use at home go for da buddha best bang for your buck when it comes to desktop vapes. Extreme q is also nice but i like buddha  a tad more.

  10. No need to be rude about it, I even said in my status that there is a learning curve BUT it is easily conquered. I've vaped through an Iolite, Da Vinci, and something similar to the extreme q and after using all of those the MFLB is the most beginner vape. If it's honestly too hard for you to look through a clear plastic panel and hold a battery in you probably shouldn't be vaporizing anyways.

  11. Lol tell me not to be rude then proceed to be a condescending douche at the end of your post... what ever.

Anything with a learning curve that takes longer than one session to figure out should not be considered a beginners vape.

There's a LOT more to learning how to use the MFLB than just looking through the top and holding in the battery.   You have to deal with:

    Fineness of grind
How long to hold the battery in
How fast or slow to draw
    Shaking in between hits
    Etc etc..........

All of the above can have a MAJOR impact on how well or not well the MFLB will work, but yeah, for many, it's not rocket science but for those that are just used to huffing on a joint or a bong, even these things can seem overly complicated.

lol, okay kids, calm down. I don't mind a learning curve at all. I mentioned that I'm a newb more to push the fact that I need something sturdy and versatile for my first vape, so that it can be my only vape until I learn more about them and can invest in something higher end.

I looked up everything mentioned so far on the thread and narrowed it down to the solo and the mflb. I found overall better reviews for the solo, but I preferred the size and style of the mflb and everything that was listed as a deal breaker for the mflb (shitty battery life, learning curve, weaker clouds) aren't issues for me. I'm thinking to go ahead with the mflb because it's perfect for what I want stealth-wise, and I like the quick heat so I can load it up and set it aside and return to it. It's going to be solely for personal use (though sometimes I let my man take a hit before bed), and I never finish a bowl in one sitting. I'll definitely want something bigger down the road, but I don't know if I'll want a whip or a bag or a bong.

  14. I've used quite a few desktop vapes but never used any portable ones.    I would also recommend the extreme q.  I own the SSV but I wish I had extreme q simply for the digital dial so I can know exactly what temp I like to vape at.  SSV, Extreme Q, DBV all give equally good hits at a great price.

Arizer Solo is reported to be an excellent portable vape but I have yet to try one.  TONS of great reviews on it though.

If you decide on the MFLB, make sure that you read this >>>  http://www.vaporpedia.com/wiki/Magic-Flight_Launch_Box

  16. If you are between the solo and the mflb I would choose the solo based on your needs. The solo makes a great at home vape and an alright on the go vape. It would easily fit in a briefcase, but not so easily in a pocket. It's easy to use and produces one of the best vapors as far as density and quality in a portable vape. Also if you are looking for desktop vapes I would highly consider the vapolution 2.0 or a log style vape. The vapolution has an all glass air path and great reviews over at FC as well as an outstanding price point. A log vape is a little more expensive, but is one of the most efficient vapes on the market. Also a log vape is always left on 24/7 which means the vape is ready to go whenever you need your medication. Just my .02

  17. My vote is for the solo. I'd say it is foolproof. You pack the bowl turn the solo on. Choose your heat and you are good to go. 12 minutes go by and it will automatically shut off giving you the option to continue vaping just 0.05-0.1g for another 12 minutes or to repack. Most I have ever vaped the same bowl was for 3 full sessions.

  18. I say Atmos. My first vape I have gotten is an Atmos. I got it at my local headshop for $96 cheap and easy as anything. Pack it, hold the button and vape. Simplicity at it's finest.

It's true there's a learning curve with the MFLB, but it's really nowhere near as steep as it's made to seem here. You'll get the hang of it, and it probably won't take long at all. If you start out using the included draw straw, you'll have an easier time because it lets you have a better visual perspective of what's going in the box by setting it a bit farther from your face. Worst case - it combusts a little. It's not like a mistake is going to cause your junk to fall off or anything. :)
They're a nice unit and I'm new to vaping, too. I've had two others and I didn't care for them. Whatever you end up with, just enjoy and have fun and feel better. That's what it's all about. If you don't like it, move on and find another later on. It's too bad you don't know anyone that has some different ones you could try on for size, ya know?

  20.
Thanks. I do wish I had the opportunity to try different models, but I don't know anyone who vapes personally. All my real life friends are pipe enthusiasts. I actually adore my little hand pipe. I actually prefer it over a bong, but maybe I just haven't had enough experience with other things. But it's not discrete and I'm using enough I'd like to cut out the smoke.
