Wood Pipe?

Discussion in 'Smoking Accessories Q&A' started by TrippyOnASunday, Apr 25, 2014.

  1. I've never seen anyone use a wood pipe but I really want one. Is it a real thing? Can you use a sweet wooden tobacco pipe for weed?

  2. My X-g/f and I cut down a red oak and made one almost 12 years ago. We wanted a wooden bowl , but not one that anyone else had. We wanted it all origonal, pure, nothing even bought. We cut it down with a hand saw , it was a big one, prolly 40 feet tall, 10" diameter. We selected a bunch of limbs to dry and cure. Good thing too, most of them cracked. We had the sticks for 6 months before we began to work. All hell broke loose in our lives at that time, and we ended up homeless, living in a car. That stick sat in the glove box, and we would carve on it now and then. We got the general shape in a gew weeks just carving on it with our pocket knives. As time went by, someone invited us to live with them, paying rent in W. Virginia. They were poor too, stolen electricity, wood stove, gravity fed cold water. we used coat hangars and the fire prods to burn out the bowl, choke hole, and shaft. During this time, the people we were staying with started crushing and snorting pills and drinking hard,; they decided that they wanted to rape my x, they had a shotgun. Now you know why I won't be without a gun anymore...We got lucky, they didn't get her, we got away. We ran away in the middle of the night, it was bad. We were cold and wet, having to go through a river getting away from their dogs. I stuck the bowl in my pocket. We knocked on some guys door @ 3am and he answered with a 30-06, I dont blame him. Well, the cops showed up, but since the people we were living with were the local dealers, the cops wouldn't do anything but give us a ride to the next town. They called the Salvation Army who paid a hotel for the night. My parents wired me some cash to get by until they could drive down to get us. We literally had nothing but the clothes on our backs and the bowl, unfinished, in my pocket. In a cop car. At 4: 20 am. FTW!!!!!!!! While in the motel for the week, we got sandpaper and stain and  finally finished the piece, which we had dubbed, Woody.  A couple years later, we got raided, a cop was going to take it but we got a chance to talk to him out of earshot of the other officers. We told him what I just told you, he took Woody out of his pocket, slid it into the kitchen drawer behind him, and slid it shut without a word. /...speechless. well, thanks. This story has never been publicly told. To the cop, I'm not like your people, I won't stab anyone in the back. Here are the pics.

    OBTW. It smokes great.

They will burn through over time, NEVER cash out a wooden bowl.

  3. That is amazing. I couldn't have asked for anything better. I am truly touched by that.

By far the best thing I've read on here

  4. Thanks.

BTW. Be careful not o get any stain or poly inside the bowl itself. It soaks into the wood. Don't get the sides too thin, they get hot.

  5. You should make a movie out of that story call it "the bowl that lived" or something

  6. OP to answer your question I only smoke from a wood pipe I personally made. They clog up faster but they're also hard to break and lighter compared to glass.

Thanks for the story! Worth it after seeing that pipe!

As for wooden pipes, they're cool but even more annoying to clean than glass or metal pipes.
