Is This A Perc?? If So What Type And If Not What Is The Proper Term???

never seen that before..
I don't think its a perc, I don't see how it could be..
The first few things that came to my mind was a carb or a drain hole..
Or a weird side nail set up..
Not sure about any of that..

 

Ya it's a perc, just an upside down downstem.  I had a similar type piece back in the day...

It's a janky perc, only 1 hole..think oldschool downstems but upside down.

If you look at my pics it gives a little better idea how it functions.
 
The smoke goes through the first perc, in the case of his bong it appears to be a beaker with a downstem.  The smoke rises and enters the small chamber that we are talking about.  It goes up the downstem and back down around the sides of the downstem and into the next chamber.

Yep it is a splash guard. But they call it a splash catcher.
Different bong same idea.

They look similar but are different. The link is a splash catcher but op has a natty perc.
