Answer To Our Over-Reaching Govt Problem.

Discussion in 'Politics' started by ItsReneeYo_, Apr 24, 2014.

  1. Should we as individual states keep our individual issues to ourselves and try to internally fix them before turning to the federal government? For example

Chicago has a murder problem , Texas has a drug problem. Etc etc.

Each state has their individual issues , they should try to implement programs to better their situation,

Just because Chicago has a higher murder rate doesn't mean the federal government needs to implement new laws regarding firearms , same goes for states with heavy drug issues. Just because Texas is next to Mexico and has a bunch of trafficking doesn't mean the federal government should step in and declare their war on drugs propaganda. Each state has the capability of bettering their situation. If it is way too much for a state too handle by all means turn to the fed. But every little issue in every little state should be cause to turn to the government, that's why there so over-reaching now.

  2. They're overreaching because people thought that writing some words on a piece of paper hundreds of years ago was going to stop them from doing whatever they wanted.

"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants"

The founding fathers knew that."government" is like a hungry fire. They knew it was evil. But deemed it nessesary. To be restrained as much as possible. And when that fire spreads out of control it needs to be extinguished.

Everything that is happening now was predicted by our founding fathers. Central banking. Encroachment of civil liberties. Irresponsible spending. Over taxation.

Its a cycle. There will never be one perfect world government where everyone is happy. Revolutions are nessesary.

Also OP. you are talking about the tenth ammendment. You are 100% correct. State laws are higher then federal laws.

Congress is only supposed to make laws that protect the constitution

  5. I thought in the US fed trumps state

  6. it does technically according the the constitution. BUT
All powers not given to congress by the constitution are reserved by the states. Meaning over 99% of all federal laws are illegal because they violate the tenth ammendment. Meaning in that case, state law trumps

  7. Why dont American people use this to their advantage, and gain back power over the country, like how you say, with revolution just a non violent one, like how Iceland (i think) did. They changed thier nation, decentralized the bank and had their constitution rewritten.
What is it that is stopping you guys from doing this.

most people are content and dont want to believe that any significant change is needed. (Other then change they can conveniently vote for once every 4 years)

As for a peaceful revolution. I agree. Violent revolutions always end the same way. The birth of a new baby tyranny.

What  you are describing is "federalism," the idea that the states (and people) were to be self-governing, and the fedgov having only those very few defined powers granted to it in the constitution. That was the whole original idea of the U.S.

The states created the alliance and granted the fedgov those few powers, voluntarily giving up that small amount of sovereignty -- which they can take back any time they want. But we see how that has worked out, lol, with Leviathan breathing down our necks every hour of every day, dictating how much water our toilets, kitchen sinks, and showerheads should use, what kind of light bulbs we will be allowed to buy, what kind of silly mandated crap that is on our vehicles, etc. etc.

The problem is that the government doesn't need to follow its own laws as its the one that interprets those laws. Turns out having a few "checks and balances" within what's essentially one organization doesn't work that well when that organization has a territorial monopoly on the initiation of force.

Yup. It has a monopoly on the making of rules (legislature), a monopoly on the interpretation of those rules (courts) and a monopoly on the use of violent force.

It has the legal right to steal, to destroy others' property, murder, and even the legal right to commit mass-murder.

    Wonderful! What could go wrong?

  17. Unfortunately most people in the US could care less about political issues if they don't directly affect then.
