2 Week Old Seedling Strange Brown/rust/yellow Spots

Discussion in 'Sick Plants and Problems' started by Mr_SmokePot, Apr 24, 2014.

  1. I started 8 seedlings on earth gro potting soil mixed with native sand from florida and they are all doing fine and ive been watering them tap water except for one of the plants that inexplicably developed brown spots and died and all I ever done was water when needed. No bugs and no fertilizers... What's happening?

  2. Just curious, what led you to using sand in your soil mix? A knee jerk reaction is sand is not good as it provides no aeration to the roots. It's just one plant out of eight?  The only one affected?  I've just been though a sick plant thread and these are the things you need to look at and consider when trouble shooting a plant problem.  If it's just one out of eight and the only one affected I would just not worry.

"We need all the info on your grow including:

What type of medium; soil or hydro?
What brand and type of soil?
    Indoors or outdoors?
    What strain?
    How old are the plants?
What type of lights and how many watts?
    How far from the lights?
What is your watering frequency and source of water?
What, how much and when was it fed? NPK?
What is the medium/runoff pH and PPM if in hydro?
What are the temps and humidity in the room?
    What size pots?
    Any bugs? Look real close.
    Any other pertinent info?

If any of these questions have already been answered please disregard as I cut and paste this for everyone.

If there is leaf discoloration please TAKE PICTURES WITH ALL GROW LIGHTS OFF, ESPECIALLY HPS & LED's. Taking pictures and taking them with lights off, allows us to see what the leaf discoloration looks like.

Yeah it was just one and weird death I wish I had pictures but it started as brown necrosis and it escalated over night! But in not too worried because the rest are just fine on the same soil and I'm sorry I don't have the time for all the details but the soil is cheap earth gro potting soil It doesn't drain well so I added sandy native soil from here in florida; it's my first grow and I've been doing nothing but reading and I'm going guerrilla with good bag seeds. I'm using 20 gal pots and and they will get fimmed, trained and fertilized at least once every 2-3 weeks or when needed.
Should I start a journal just in case I need help? image.jpg
