"This study shows a some preliminary evidence of cardiovascular harm from marijuana but isn't conclusive,” Dr. Allen Taylor, chief of cardiology at Georgetown University School of Medicine, told CNN in an e-mail. “The study's limitations are important in that we can't know how high the risk is, just that there is a signal of risk between marijuana smoking and heart troubles.”

Lol they barely tested this to see if its true. They always say "oh we need more evidence" "we need more proof to find out but you should still be careful and remember pot is bad hur hur hur". These studies always need more evidence to be conclusive. They only test once and the news publishes it immediatley. Im guessing its the government trying to "poke holes" through the idea that weed is completley safe. Well see once they actually test this a few more times.

  2. I don't know where to begin to call bullshit....

35 people in 4 years? Why was this even published? 700,000 die a year from cigarettes. that's 2,800,000 people in four years lol

Neither number is acceptable, but come on man. Why waste your time writing such a dumb article? lol

  3. They waste their time writing this becuase marijuana is viewed as harmless and now this BS study is threatening it saying it "could be bad for you". The media is very neutral on legalization and is even sometimes opposed to it. Very rarely are they supportive, just neutral.

  4. Weed has been around for thousands of years and NOW its giving people heart problems? Give me a break

  5. Sorry im posting so much but i just had to point this out, this is what the article said: Taylor cautions that while this study doesn't provide a final answer on the link between cannabis and serious heart problems, “it at least gives one pause to suggest to patients it may not be a heart-healthy habit."

Lol they probably wont do another test to find out if this is true. They might call it quits, accept their false victory, and say that "well we only tested once and we dont know for sure, but we think it causes heart problems, so dont smoke weed since we think its bad for you...we think"
Think about it, this study might be disproved if they do another study on this so they probably just stopped and accepted their vicotry already, who knows :confused_2:

  6. Yawn more propaganda. No concrete evidence.

Meanwhile other studies (believe saw one recently on leafscience) are proving cannabis to boost heart health and to protect it. Proving! Not making allusions then claiming to not have conclusive evidence!

IMO the action is similar to its neuro protectant properties due to its strength against oxidative damage. Secondly is modulating effects through endo c system, helping to regulate the circulatory system.

Science says cannabis is one of the safest heart healthy options we have. That article is BS. They can call us when they've got something real.

  7. '' From 2006 to 2010, they found 35 reports of patients who had experienced cardiovascular complications following cannabis use''
what they meant to say is ''we found 35 people that had an underlying heart condition of some sort and when they ingested cannabis their heart rates increased bringing out the problem''

  8. and only 9 of 35 actually died!

It's not mentioned here but another article on this study stated 60% of those participants also used tobacco.

    I found this
The average age of those experiencing marijuana-related cardiovascular compilations was 34.3 years and 16 of the total 35 patients had either a personal or family history of heart problems. Researchers found that nine of the 35 patients had a personal cardiovascular history -- including high blood pressure and acute coronary syndrome -- and seven additional patients had a family history -- including close family members who experienced stroke, coronary disease and vascular disease. Twenty-one of the patients also smoked tobacco.

  10. since they had zero controls in the study, only samples from people with heart trooubles, some that smoked pot, they conclude pot caused it.....

yes folks, this is true DEA type science at work...

in other news, pot causes your babies to be born naked...oh the horror, the embarrassment...

  11. What's with all of the propaganda lately?

  12.

it erupts like a volcano every time there is progress on legalization.

I know lol, and honestly dude I didn't read past the second paragraph. What a waste of time. Its almost worse than the current gun law debates.

Statistic: 339,605 people died from gun violence FROM 2000 - 2010
    That's 33,606 people per year.

Statistic: 430,000 people died from Car fatalities between the same years.
    That's 43,000 per year.

But we focus on Guns. Why? Because there is an agenda. Just like there is an agenda for Cannabis. It is to wipe it off the planet. Why again? Because it will destroy the huge pharmaceutical companies.

I hope you all understand why I posted this.

  14. Holy shit. You can find better science than this at the creationist museum.

  15. The study involved 35 people over 4 years. That is a tiny sample, much too small to actually create data that is relevant to the entire population. In addition to this, the study actually draws no strong correlations between marijuana use and heart troubles. It appears that simply smoking marijuana and having a heart problem were the only factors considered in this study. No study was made into the frequency of cannabis use in these users or any other factors that would be relevant.

I don't think we (cannabis supporters/users) should be unwilling to accept scientific evidence, even if it is about the dangers of marijuana. If we do that we are as bad as the prohibitionists. However, to place any signifcant weight on a study as inconclusive and possibly faulty as this one is ludicrous. I find it really maddening that there are news articles featuring this study with titles such as "Smoking cannabis can cause lethal damage to heart" when the study itself even concludes that no conclusive evidence has been formed.

  16. We should be thrilled,,the government spent billions searching for harm in marijuana and they have finally proven it is as dangerous as a doublemeat cheeseburger.

  17. But not as bad for you as a KFC Double down.

  18. Thank you! People need to quit focusing on the tool and focus on the person behind the tool. Who crashed those cars? Humans. Who kills all those people using guns every year? Humans. That crazy ass kid that stabbed 20 people didn't need a gun to carry out his attack. Crazy ass people will do crazy ass things, regardless if guns are legal or not.

  19. I love KFC. Even if it is extremely unhealthy lol! I remember in a South Park episode, they made KFC illegal and an underground black market for KFC was created! Funniest shit ever
