  1. Ok I did a very successful grow in soil 10 years ago. I can t afford it anymore so I figured I would gow a bit. I started with feminized WW x BB because of high yield, high potency and ease of growth "beginner". I bought a 6 bucket DWC that does not recirculate but has a 951 liter per min pump. I will only use 4 of the 6 buckets of the system. I have a 4x4 area and am using 12 100w CFLS I plan on getting more. I timed this all wrong. I germed the seeds and ruined 3 out of 4 by not having my lights secured well enough. WTF . Anyway I started them in a burpee tray and didn't expect them to take off as fast as they did. well the one that survived anyway. the roots are huge but only have 4 leaves. I'm starting to panic because my hydroton isnt here yet nor my nutrients.I ordered Advanced Nutrients 3-Part pH Perfect Grow Micro Bloom. My dwc system came in so i figured I would put the pump to use because I didt think it was good for the roots to be sitting in stagnant non treated RO water. I had a bit of miracle grow and only used a fraction of the recommended amount. 1/4 tsp per gallon rater than 1 tlbs per gallon . I only topped off the burpee tray that the seedlings are currently in. I prob wont see the hydroton till another 4-5 days will the seedling be ok till then. should I ditch the air pump? I have done so much reading but there is just so much info out there. I have all this money invested now and dont really want to fail. Any help would be appreciated.

  2. You probably should have waited for nutrients and growing medium to arrive first but I think you know that. If you have a hydroponics shop nearby you should pick up the hydroton and maybe a small bottle of veg nutes to hold you off.

If that's not plausible for you then just keep misting your plant and wait it out. Also you can use rocks in hydrotons place if you clean them off really well before you use them. Smaller the rocks, the less damage to you roots though.

  3. thank you I ordered hydroton and advanced nutrients micro grow bloom "ph balanced"  and yes it seems to keep it constant. Im using 1cc of each for every gallon of water. It says use 1 tablespoon per gallon but I thought you were supposed to use quarter nutes. I got them in the rdwc system and they seem to be doing well now. I bought a ph meter and have been staying at 5.7-5.8 on its own. I am using Ro water. Now I have an issue where they are starting to get a light green making me think they may need more nutes like maybe phosphorus or nitrogen. I germed on the 16 of april and have 3 nodes on each. I was having an issue when i started to use the miracle gro tomato crap and it completely burnt my first set of leaves. I used maybe an eight of the recommended amount. They look great now after the advanced nutrients came in and changed the res.the nodes are growing very close together. I suppose it will be a bushy plant. thinking of doing a screen over green. Sorry I didn't respond earlier I was never sent a notification but I'll be sure to check back often thanks for the reply! pS STALK JUST STARTED TURNING GREEN. ONE IS COMPLETELY GREEN FROM PURPLE. Opps sorry about the caps. I cant believe I only got one reply from 256 views. I'm not doing this to make money im doing it to support my $160 a week or so habit. A more help is greatly appreciated. Im new to the hydro and I think I should up the nuts a bit but id like to get a second opinion before I go doing that. I have read as much as I could be fore I asked this question and this was the issue I see that might start to arise. I do mix my nutrient water and it sits for a week before its all used. could this be a issue

  4. Make sure to always shake ur nute bottles before feeding. Otherwise the nutes will mostly be at the bottom of the bottle and I'll be getting mostly water.

The lightening if the leaves is probably nitrogen deficiency. Crank up the nutes a bit at a time until you they look comfortable.

Letting them sit for a while doesn't hurt them. Some of my jugs sit for two weeks or longer before I use them up.

  5. Thank you I will try upping from 1/4 nutes to hal I do have 3 nodes now. Does that sound about right. After I got the PH issue situated they greened right up over night. I have been shaking the nutes and even the mixed solution. I figure everything has its density and will sink to different levels. force of habit. I was thinking maybe nitrogen or phosphorus. I just got done doing a res change so we will see what tomorrow brings. I find it if you do have an issue if you identify it soon enough they bounce back rather quickly but Im sure the stress prob lowers the potency of the bud. i ve 3 seedings and plan on making some successful clones from them to keep a mother plant. i know some say its not good to clone your clones but others say a few times can enhance the strain before you see a decline in yeild or potency. i will eventually keep the best one as the mother and hopefully crop out every 6 weeks or so. I'll keep you posted and let you know if the res change fixed anything. thanks guys!

  6. I take clones from clones almost exclusively. Besides random and rare mutations you can take clones from clones for years. I've never personally seen any mutations in any of my plants though.

Sounds like you are past the learning curve though. Not as difficult as most of us think at first. Good luck on your grow!
