Xroms 300W Cfl - Second Grow - Easy Ryder/diesel Ryder

Discussion in 'Indoor Grow Journals' started by xrom, Apr 23, 2014.

  1. Hey guys, I grew an Easy Ryder a long time ago and it turned out OK, not great but not bad for my first time. So I've decided to give it another shot, this time I've got some better lights and a bigger grow box so I'm hoping I will have better results.

There was loads of different types of strains I wanted to try but I decided to stick to auto flowers for this grow and ill mix it up in my next grow. I'm growing two plants this time and they are Diesel Ryder and Easy Ryder, I picked Easy Ryder again to see how it compares to my last grow.

I'm growing it in a 2ftx3ftx4ft box I made from some strips of wood and some old laminate floor.

    I'm using...

    - 200w CFL (red) + reflector
    - x2 30w CFL (blue), x2 30W CFL (red) and x2 20w CFL (red)
    - 4" 160 m3/hour inline fan (exhaust)
    - 120mm pc fans that feeds in cool air from the window (intake)
    - 20L/4 Gallon pots (already regret getting pots this size/shape, too big for my area)

This thread will be quite picture heavy and I'll aim to post a decent update every week, the main reason I'm doing this is because since I started growing again I found myself constantly looking back at my old journal to compare my grow so id like to keep a journal of this one.

    On to the pictures :)

First picture is the box I'm growing in and the next 7 are Diesel Ryder from Day 1 - 7.

  4. and finally Easy Ryder Day 8 - 14 (today)

Sort of spammed my own thread but I didn't want to post a load of pictures in one reply and make it hard for people to tell what plant/day it was.

    Thanks :)

Quick update, both plants are 3 weeks old today and both showed preflowers on day 18.

I've also added another plant called Cheese Candy by delicious seeds it was a freebie with my order so I decided to just chuck it in because there was some wasted space towards the top of the box.

I'm wondering if its worth giving them any nutrients yet, neither plant has had any but neither plant is showing any signs of a deficiency. Just not sure if its worth giving them a dose of grow + bloom or just leave them for the time being, id appreciate any advice as I plan on watering them tomorrow.

    On with the pics...

    Hi guys, I've got a few problems/questions :(

Since last night some small markings have appeared on a few of the leafs, to me it looks like early signs of nutrient burn but neither plant has been fed anything other than straight water since seed. It also cant be water residue that's been burn by the lights as I've not fed them water in about 5 days my last thought was that a few of the leafs might have touched the lights but some of these marks are on the lower leafs that couldn't have touched the lights. So I'm a little confused, I guess its some sort of deficiency but because its only on very few leafs I'm really not sure.

OK so that's my first problem, my second is about some of the lower leafs, it looks like something could be eating them but the only bug I've spotted since I started was a carpet beetle and that was over a week ago, since then I've not seen a thing.

The first two pictures are of the strange marks on the leafs, the third picture is about the holes and the last is the first set of leafs that seem to be showing some sort of deficiency not sure if its related though.

Honestly if anyone has any ideas please let me know, even if its just a guess I'll read up on it.

    Thanks!

Time for another update, both plants are 4 weeks old today and the Cheese Candy I threw in is 5 days old.

Still having a few issues with the Easy Ryder but I'm not too worried as its still growing at a good rate. The Easy Ryder has been fed twice now, once at 1/4 strength and today I gave it 1/2 strength

The Diesel Ryder has had a decent growth spurt to say its still not been fed (will feed tomorrow with 1/4 strength).

The Cheese Candy I'm not worrying about as I don't have the room to properly grow it and as I only have one cabinet for growing I need to finish the autos before it can be put it into flower. I'm probably going to practice some of the training methods on this and see how small I can keep it.

Hopefully by next week the pictures will get a little more interesting as they move further into flower.

Another quick update, both plants are 5 weeks old today.

Problems with the Easy Ryder continue but still seeing plenty of new growth that is unaffected so I'm not worrying to much. Been slowly upping the nutrients to the recommended dosage and today I fed with 4ml of bloom and 1ml of grow.

The Diesel Ryder seemed to stretch like crazy even though I gave it more light, but I'm not to fussed as it was small anyway.

Looking at where the plants are now id say they will defiantly need another 4-5 weeks minimum but we will see.

    6 weeks old today :)

The Easy Ryder is much further along than the Diesel Ryder at this point but I have dedicated the better light to the Easy Ryder so I'm not surprised. I've been letting the Easy Ryder dry out of the last few days then ill give it what might be its last feed at full strength, breeder say 9 weeks from seed but I can see it going 10 if not longer so it will probably get another feed.

The Diesel Ryder is slacking a little bit but I swapped out all my 20W bulbs for 30W and noticed its picked up the pace a little. I also got a cheap LED panel that I've mounted to the door and that's pointing at the lower branches of the Easy Ryder so it will be nice to see if that makes a difference.

Pictures should start getting a little more interesting next week but for now..
