Outdoor (Quasi-Guerilla) Organic Grow At 40 North Using Female Seeds Company Genetics

  1. Outdoor (Quasi-Guerrilla) Organic Grow at 40 North using Female Seeds Company Genetics

This year I am using all feminized seeds from the most reputable and reliable seed company I have tried so far.  Other big name companies with massive advertising budgets have left me with low germination rates and male plants being sold as feminized seeds.  Since I am looking at the same fine and/or jail time for growing crappy male plants as I am at growing lushes full budded females, I cannot risk bad seeds.
The plan is to grow a single large Sativa, several hybrid Sativa/Indica crosses, and a handful of Auto-Flowering plants.
For the Sativa I chose the Outdoor Grapefruit variety.
The hybrids will be Red Purps and Purple Maroc.
The Auto-Flowering will be Auto Speed Bud.
I began soaking the Outdoor Grapefruit and Red Purps just after the Spring Equinox.  I had all the seeds sprout radicals within 3 days and then they went into soil containers.  On April 6 they pushed through the soil and showed their first leaves.
I start my plants in 1 liter plastic water bottles placed inside a small greenhouse.  Typically they get planted out in mid May, when my garden site gets direct sun from 0900 until 1630.  I like the water bottles because I can cut them open without disturbing the root ball before planting.  Afterwards the bottles go the recycling.
The weather went horribly wrong though and I lost a few seedlings to damping off.  But 1 Outdoor Grapefruit survived along with 3 Red Purps.  For my small garden space this is more than enough females to keep me smoking if I manage a good harvest.
The Auto Speed Bud will be started in the first week of June and harvested in the last week of July.  Last year I grew the Auto Northern Lights and was thrilled at a mid-summer harvest of sticky buds.  This year I may just grow them in my vegetable garden alongside some hot pepper plants of the same height.  For 60 days I should be able to keep people out of my garden area and allow these little plants to soak up the full sun of a proper garden rather than a guerrilla plot that sacrifices sun hours for security.
Now that the first seeds have sprouted, I am turning the soil on my raised beds at the quasi-guerrilla plot.   Then I am trekking sacks of compost through the forest and down the cliffs to my secret plot.  I like to top-dress with 10cm of compost on newly turned soil about 3 weeks before planting.  Then I top-dress again in early June before flowering begins.  This system has given me great results over the years.

  2. This looks really promising, i'm really curious about autos. Subbed bro

  3. 3 of 4 from the Purple Maroc popped this morning at got placed into 1 litre compost containers.
Other seedlings are growing their 3rd set of true leaves.
    Fingers Crossed!

  4. Cool man, I got the maroc, purple maroc and semi-auto grapefruit. Never run any before but should be great if they make it!

  5. all of my seeds from the Purple Maroc germinated without a hitch.  great quality always from Female Seeds.

the day they poked from the soil, a mouse broke into my greenhouse and uprooted all 4 of my seedlings and ate the fresh leaves!!  little bastard!

now i have 1 Grapefruit and 3 Red Purps that are doing very well.

i will get some photos up soon, but seedlings are not that exciting to look at.

with luck, i will clone the 4 i have and plant them out in various locations.

I have 3 red purps and 1 outdoor grapefruit that are doing well.

The grapefruit was damaged by either a mouse or a slug; something took a bite from the stem and nearly killed the seedling.  Luckily it survived and seems to be recovering.

I finished top dressing the soil with compost and then covered it with black plastic.

The plastic acts as a mulch, so I usually do not need to water the soil during the year.  The plastic also suppresses weed growth and discourages birds from digging the garden and damaging the roots.

  7. I got into some nugs from The Church that i grew some years ago and was pleasantly surprised to have my mind blown.  In contrast, I have been vaporizing the Voluptuous Spaniard previously.  The VS is very resinous, but lacks THC.   Another reason not to grow bagseed, you never know what you might get.

  8. The girls are sexing now.  As expected 4 of 4 are female.  Never a problem with Female Seeds Co., but nice to get confirmation.

  9. I am preparing the soil for the Auto Flower garden now.  I am excited to be smoking some fresh buds in 8 weeks!

Now all i have is old Church to smoke.

  10. 2 of 2 Auto Speed Bud seeds germinated without problem.

Today they will go directly into the ground.  I will dig a hole, fill it with compost and plant the seed directly with a protective dome.

With such a short life span, i don't want to lose any growth to transplant shock.

The other four are doing well, the leaves are a dark green color now that they are in open soil.  I will post some photos soon, but really plants are not so exiting before flowering begins.

  11. The plants are all about a meter in height.  The single Outdoor Grapefruit is noticeably scrawnier than the other 3 Red Purps, due to root damage during transplant.   Both the Outdoor Grapefruit and Red Purps went from pre-flowering to flowering directly. The leaves have gone from 7 to 5 blades and the branching pattern has changed from symmetrical (decussate) to asymmetrical (alternate).   This corresponds to the 8 week point of vegetative growth.  Flowers are in the early stages of development and plant growth remains vigorous.
This is the first time I have had strains begin flowering before the Solstice, except for the Northern Lights Auto Flowers engineered by Female Seeds Company.  The Easy Sativa and C99 bred by Female Seeds Company both flowered in the first week after Solstice.  The Church, Isis, Arjan's Haze, and Spaniards all began to flower directly after Solstice also.   My grow site receives full sun for 10 hours daily during June/July and another 5 hours of ambient light.
If this year's crop finishes as quickly as it began to flower, I may have a new favorite variety to grow.  With the long days of July and August still ahead, it is still too soon to guess the final size and dry weight of these plants.   Being able to harvest before the Equinox will allow me to beat the worst of the wind and rain that comes in Autumn and leads to bud rot without fail.

  12. I wouldn't use a tarp because the copper can see that shine from above. when I guerilla grow the first and biggest rule is to have no garbage in or around your area. take anything you use back out with you, also I look for other people garbage too. when I see that then that tells me someone has been there and if I decide im going to stay I take that out with me too. if the cops see garbage from the sky then they have a reason to take a second fly around and if they missed them the last time they will get them the next time. You want it to look as if nO one have ever been there..

just thought id help ya out.

  13. Good tip for sure.   Typically I use broad leaved vegetation on top of the black plastic to camouflage it.

If I good just figure out how to make a camouflaged greenhouse, I could really rock!

Now my best plants are pushing head height and filling out nicely.  Bud development is ongoing and lovely on all 4 of them.

I am starting to get excited about harvest time and toking on some fresh nugs!

    horse poo for the flowers!

  15. I am spraying Bt on the ladies now.

  16. Looking good yet.. why dont you come to the thread I started a bit back.. seems like lots of people pass by it. Maybe show off your grow there too. Its called "true north and free guerrilla grow"

  17. Looking great man!! Im growing some Bubblegummer and red purps from Femaleseeds too. I'd suggest to cover the transparent bottles next time so the light wont bother the roots. Subd man, great grow

  18. Of the three Red Purps in my plot, two are holding steady at 150cm; the third is a BIG girl that stretches to 250cm.  The Outdoor Grapefruit has caught up with the Red Purps in growth at this point, but she will unlikely reach her full size of 2 meters.  All of them seem to be ending their stretching time and beginning to produce more calyxes in mass.  This is good for me, as I do not want tall plants that could draw attention to my little hobby.  Also it is impossible to check the top colas for bugs or mold if the plant is taller than I am.
This is the sixth week of flowering and all is going well.  I doubt they will finish before September, although at 50 North they are bred to finish in 50 days.
Two of the RP are showing purple flowers now, as well as the OG.  They should start to fill in this week and start to smell sweet.  I love this part of the growth cycle, these girls are looking sexy.

  19.
do you have a link to your grow?  i would like to see how other Red Purps are coming along.

i think i might switch to milk cartons next year for seedlings.  1 litre size is perfect, but i agree that sunlight is not helpful to the wee roots.

now comes the fun part of watching these girls get beefy and sticky!

i am searching now and will post a link after i take a look around.  thanks for the invite.

  20. Loads of new calyxes now!  The girls should start stinking soon.
