  1. Was looking at the music thread and thought there should be a film one. Sorry if there already is one I haven't seen one.

  2. Too start I think that The Lord of the Rings films were crap and didn't capture any of the interesting imagery and concepts of the books. I also think that Disney film are all awful. Anyone else?

  3. Jungle book was pretty good :)

Never watched Harry potter movies. Not my cup of tea!

  4. Sergio Leone was the best director in film history. Better than Spielberg, or Scorsese, or Copola or anyone else that is so universally loved.

  5.
I'd say David Lynch, Kubrick, or Jodorowsky is far more interesting.

The Holy Mountain is in the top 20 films of all time.

  6. Philosiraptor. Damn you have good taste in film.

  7. And I would disagree. They are all good, but none of them are as good as Leone. And the sad thing is that Leone is not the household name that all those others are. Yeah, most people know TGTB&TU, but don't know of him as the director.

  8. Jodorowsky is definitely not a household name. His films are not known by many people other than surrealists. Lynch is slightly bigger because of Twin Peaks mostly but still isn't exactly a well known film maker. But I do agree that

  9. Leone is an exceptional film director.

  10. In the aid of keeping this going I would also like to say that I think George Lucas is ridiculously overrated.

  11. Avatar is so overrated, how this movie got nominated for Best Picture remains a mystery for me.

  12. i didnt like fight club

  13. Noodlez. Avatar was pretty bad and I was gonna put that here as far as I was concerned I just didn't think it was that much of an unpopular opinion.

Those such as Maya Deren, Kenneth Anger, and their contemporaries have done more for American cinema than just about anyone else at the time. While the formulaic, inoffensive tripe of so-called "Golden Age Hollywood" was dominating the screen, these auteurs developed unique styles and techniques that may now be considered the standard by which films are made.

  17.
    Lucifer Rising was pretty interesting.

  18. George Lucas is a tremendous story teller, but a rubbish filmmaker.
