    Hello GC,

I have been reading all the cool topics and taking in all the good advice everyone has shared here on GC, thanks so much.

I wanted to share my first grow with everybody, maybe I can help out someone else by posting all my mistakes.... lol I would love to hear all comments as im totally new to growing. Let me start this off with the grow equipment. I built a grow box from some ideas I found on the net and came up with this.

My growing medium is Canna Coco and perlite mix of 70% coco and 30% perlite. I have the girls in 1.5 gallon pots. I went with the smaller pots to save head room, as it is now I have 22" head room for growth. That being said, my plan is to FIM these girls and do some LST to get all the light avaliable to the bud sites.

The nute schedule Im going to be running is Fox Farms Trio, Fox Farms ChaChing, Fox Farms Microbe Brew, Fox Farms SledgeHammer for flushing and Cal-Mag Plus from Botanicare. Im going to start my nutes at week 2 or 3...... lol  I think we will let the girls make that decision.

I stared by germinating 2 Nirvana Nothern Lights fem beans in a black shot class with distilled water covered by a black cup for 24 hours. I put this set up in my sock drawer where the temp remains at 78 degrees all the time. The tap root broke through about 22 hours. I planted the beans about a knuckle deep straight to there 1.5 gal. pots. I prep the coco with distilled water Ph'ed to 5.8 by watering it till I had a good amount of run off. I put the pots in the grow box to let them acclimate while I ready the beans for transfer. I transfered the beans using a pair of tweezers orienting the tap rood down. I just kept the top of the coco moist around the beans while I waited for the girls to brake ground. The grow space temps range from 81 deg. to 86 deg. with a Rh range of 31% to 39%. The first girl saw the world for the frist time 48 hours later so we will call her #1 lol. # 2 wasent to far behind emerging at 60 hours. I mosied the coco a bit when they broke ground however I did not water them fully to the point of run off. I let the top of the first 2 inchs of the coco dry out and watered the fully till I had 20% to 30% run off.

What a trip it has been to do this!!!! I welcome all comments and only want to learn more about growing and get with some people that share this passion as much as I do. I have attached some pics of the grow bow and I will post some of the girls later today.

Thanks to all who have posted topics on GC without you all I could have not made it this far.... lol
Let me know what ya think good or bad its all learning to me.

Sorry all when I copy my journal over I missed the equipment list that I use for my garden.

    36"x22"x16" Steilite Storage Cab
    120mm x 25mm Ac adjustable box fans X 2 ( intake & exshust )
    20"x14" light hood with 120mm x 25mm cooling fan
    Light Hood 8 x 23 watt 5000K 1600 lumens for veg
    Light Hood 8 x 23 watt 2700K 1500 lumens for flowering
    6 x 23 watt 2700k 1500 lumens for subliminal lighting for flowering

I also made some adjustments to the brand of nutes I'm going to be running. After much debate we have decided to go with Fox Farms.... LOL

  4. The girls seem to be looking good, I believe they where a little thirsty . #1 leafs where a little droopy and #2 showed some small amount leaf drooping as well. We watered till we had 25%-30% run off, with 5.8 Ph Distilled H2O. The temps range between 70 deg. to 84 deg.

I am however wondering why the girls have small bent in there steams? Anyone ever see this before? I'm not going to freak out yet, but i am getting very close!!!! LOL

    Happy Growing

  5. Its natural. A lot of mine had that as well and it will straighten up. Sometimes it was do to them trying to get the most light, other times maybe it got a little hot. I would sort of prop them up but really nothing to freak out about. Just try not to over water. :) My plants now have thick straight stems so don't worry.

I would also avoid allowing runoff. The leafs were most likely droopy because they're overwatered. Seedlings don't need water, just heat and moisture. And your stems appear to be purple which usually means they're cool or stressed from temperature fluctuation.

Try to get your pH up around 6.0-6.5

  7. Thanks for the good words, when #1 popped ground she did so in the middle of my night. I had the light hood about 4 inch's from them and I think she just when to the first light detected.  :confused_2: # 2... now she wasn't such a drama queen she only slightly leans. lol       I relocated my hood to about 2 inch's above them and that seem to have stopped any further bending. I will watch them and see what happens.

I was planning to do some LST to my girls but they seem to have taken that to a whole new level

  8. Having your lights 4" away caused them to strech, which will also give you that bend. 2" is a lot better.

  9. Thanks I have had some temp fluctuation, but nothing I was to concerned about. I have been dialing the temps in and I thing i'm good there now. I will hold back on the watering to run off and just keep the coco moist.

    Thanks once again.

  10. Dont trip on purple stems for this breed as a seedling mine where all that way and i had awesome conditions.

  12. That was a hard lesson I just learned here today... LOL I've had them at 2" for the passed 5 days now.

  13. I did the same thing so when i planted them i just put them a little deeper. It is insane how far they will stretch

  14. I'm not going to trip to hard on the purple stems, a lot of people report having them with this strain.

  15. Not a problem dude, we share the same passion you do and we're here to help. I like you're light setup btw. That looks awesome and I hope you find it very effective!

  16. Thank you, it sure is a passion. That light set up cost me like 5 bucks to build without the cfls!!!!!! Super easy!!!! Whats not pictured is the 42 watt bulb the goes in the middle. My plan was when the girls need it i'm going to change out the 8-23 watt bulbs for 6-42 watt bulbs. the 42 watt bulb seem to run cooler.

  17. I have the same setup, except you're using different adapters. Good stuff dude

  18. Some pics of the girls, # 1 is not looking good but she is still growing her second set of leaves? # 2 was less affected by our apparent over watering.

The dark spots on # 1 feel a bit crispy? Is this from the over watering?

This is Lemon Head.... our outdoor plant he is the Nirvana "mystery seedling".... LOL

  19. The crispy could be from heat or if water got on the leaf and the light hit it. Don't worry, I am sure she will pull through!
