So I'm going to try my best to keep a long story short. Basically, me and my friends were out driving and we got pulled over because the cop claimed that the license plate light was out. Weed was in the car and they ended up finding it. It was my weed but I said nothing because I didn't want to incriminate myself because I thought the license plate light wasn't out. So they ended up giving us all in the car a possession charge. Upon further investigation I discovered that the license plate was out so they did have a reason to pull us over. This would be my second weed charge. Knowing all that was mentioned I have some questions: 1) Is there some way to go about confessing to sole possession of the marijuana without waiting until we go to court? like can I go confess at the police precinct or do I have to wait until court and hope that maybe the prosecutor will let my friends off the charges? Or can I say something now? 2) What would should I be suspecting if I take the charge? (Plead guilty, not first time offender or no contest) Like how much jail time, repercussions, etc.
I really don't know but someone on this site has been through this and will be able to help.. Fuck the police.
What state you're in would go miles to help. Google "XXXXxxx state possession law" would be quicker though I'm sure. Kind of a dick move not manning up in the first place. If you didn't think the light was out, ask to verify it. If it works then you're golden. Light working or not has nothing to do with allowing "friends" to catch a charge though
I know it was a dick move, but the point is I'm trying to fix it now. So does anyone know any sure fire way of getting the charge put on me?
