Glass Drilling Problems

Discussion in 'DIY and Homemade' started by Paigehasrabiess, Apr 22, 2014.

  1. So I did a shit ton of research before I started this. But I eventually went out and bought myself a drill and a 1/2" diamond drill bit.

I started drilling through my bottle and it got a nice sized little hole going.

Problem. It won't get any bigger. I drill and drill and drill and the damn hole stays the size of a pea. I kept the drill bit and bottle wet the whole time with cool water...help??

  3. Just keep drilling, youll get there. Make sure not to apply too much pressure or it will break the glass

  4. Start from the outside of the glass and taper the hole inwards.  Trying to grind flat against the sidewalls of the hole is overworking the bit.  This is kind of hard to explain.  Do you understand?  You want to be grinding on corners or edges not on flat.
