A4 W/ 5.0 Ford V8 Swap?

Discussion in 'Planes, Trains & Automobiles' started by chodelee1901, Apr 21, 2014.

  1. So I was looking up some swaps and found a video for an a4 swapped with a twin turbo 5.0 litre v8. Definitely cool but has anyone seen an American v8 in an Audi before? I'd love to make that swap

  2. as long as the block is aluminum...

  3. but why? just to have a unique body for a powerful motor? meh. I could think of a million cooler ideas IMO

  4. If you could keep the awd Quattro that would be one main reason, just think it'd be pretty cool

  5. If it were me id put a LS motor in it

  6. Aluminum block 5.0's ( old ) are real expensive, dark blocks are a couple grand. A new 5.0 is aluminum ( im fairly sure) but they are pretty expensive but good engines, the DOHC makes them more expensive to put cams into and adds to the size. The LS is good because its reliable, aluminum, easy power, relatively small, only downside is they are relatively expensive. I am curretnly 5.0 swapping a 325 and its an iron block but with the aluminum heads i threw on it its not too much heavier than the iron I6 that it replaces.

  7. save money and buy an RS6

  8. I hate trans-manufacture swaps, even though a 5.0 in an Audi sounds bad ass, it wouldn't feel right to me.  I've seen a 2000's mustang with a Supra 2jz-gte swap.  *facepalm*

ls swap before a iron 5.0.

Sounds expensive either way and not worth it as much a down payment on a new car, plus u get that new car smell. :yay:

  10. Good luck....

You ever try to work on a german wiring? Good luck...

  11. The hell did I read. How you gonna fit a V8 in a 4 cylinder car.

  12.
Those are awesome cars, ive been to a few customers houses where they have rs6's. Theyre stupidly expensive though, i think anyone whose not looking at a brand new s4 wont be able to afford a used rs6

an LS swap on a decent roller will probably cost around 10k(can be done for far less with proper know-how) for a 3-4 hundred hp car thats unique, reliable, and fast with extremely available parts. If you have a blown 1.8t or 2.7t a4 swapping an LS will definately be more cost effective that replacing with the 4 cyl.

5.0 (old) to e36 bimmer is something like 11 solder connections into the mustang harness in order to make it plug right into the bmw's main harness (using 5.0 computer)

  13. Swap in the v10 from the rs6 avant or buy any avant because wagons just have more class.

I'm gonna replace my video card with a hamster/wheel combo.

The hamster setup is louder, heavier, and likely to fuck everything up while embarrassing me.

Have you guys heard of anything like this before?

If you were really cool you would be running a Ford F-350 on a 125 cc dirtbike motor.

  15. Maybe its just me but I find it much more of a challenge to push a 4 cylinder to the limit than get 400-500 out of a V8.

  16. ^^ it is which is why so many people are swapping LS based engines into everything, its a pretty straight forward way to a 400 hp car

  17. save money and grab a V10 from an old Dodge or Ford one ton chassis. my father in law has a Ford E-350 Club Wagon with the Triton V10. lights up both rear tires with my big toe.

  18. That sounds fucking B.A.

  19. That sounds amazing. Fucking do it.

  20. thats been done many times.
