Veteran Smoker, Been Toking The Past 4 Years Daily.. Extremely Sore Throat

Discussion in 'Marijuana Consumption Q&A' started by scorchedpulmonarys, Apr 21, 2014.

  1. I'm going to keep it short and to the point, it's 4/20 after all and I know we all have more important things to do tonight.

I've been regularly using pot for over four years, smoking in general for longer. I'll typically use joints, sometimes my Sheldon Black 18mm bubbler and rarely my PAX for vaping. Lately for over the past year, and I can't stress enough how I'm about to understate this - I've directly linked smoking pot to my throat having a very constant, long lasting and decently irritating pain. I feel it the most in my tonsil region, somewhat on the roof of my mouth. It's a mixture between dryness, coarseness and phlem-inducing THROBBING aches.

I've tried everything. I use Biotine daily, hydrate before, during and AFTER smoking with water and sometimes other substances. I've tried taking all sorts of throat medication, teas, warm liquids you name it.

Nothing eases the pain very much, and it ALWAYS comes back.

What could this be? Could it be related to my tonsils? Before you all go "SEE YOUR DOCTOR", I do finally have an appointment scheduled with my ENT. I've seen my physician a multitude of times on this matter and the best he could come up with was "heart burn"

Could I be allergic to pot? I sneeze constantly when my throat pain occurs, and occasionally I'll get hives as well.

I'm distressed about it, marijuana consumption is by far my most treasured activities. I can't even justify using it anymore because it just causes sheer discomfort and pain. Maybe the ENT will have some advice, but considering my physician has done little to nothing I'm not sure if that will help or not.

Use your pax.   Are you coughing a lot when you smoke?

On a scale of 1-10 how harsh are your hits?  1 being harsh AF...

  3. Pax makes not too much a difference. I RARELY cough, only when I'm smoking in the freezing cold or if I hit a large bowl through the bubbler.

I'd say about a 5 and a half, probably a lot more but considering the constant abuse my throat receives the harshness of the hit itself doesn't affect me anymore.

Also just for the record I don't use alcohol or cigarettes

  4. Damn, that's not cool bro... I hope you get to the bottom of it and can smoke in peace again

  5. If u r allergic then edibles would make your throat hurt to hey?

  6. Try warm honey mixed with a little rum my grandma used to give it to me when I was young for sore throats shit works still use it to this day

  7. Yep get some honey down ya throat.

A sore throat is nothing to fool around with. The best thing you can do is to get to a doc and tell him everything..but you can bet the house that he will insist that you STOP putting any combusted material down your already sore throat. Its gotta have a rest AT LEAST...and you had best get a Cancer diagnosis out of the way just for peace of mind and body. Don't see how vaping would harm it and in fact an ecig might even help it..as long as you just used steam and not nicotine. But even that will be an issue with a Doctor I am sure...nothing but food and water down that gullet for a while I'll wager.

  9. Stop smoking, green tea with lemon and honey during the day, chamomile (or throat tamer) if available, with lemon and honey at night
But when that's happened to me, the key is honestly to take a break from putting shit in your lungs man

  10. You said it yourself, you've been smoking regularly for 4 years which means you should give your lungs a week or two break.

  11. Try not smoking for a while.

  12. Thats a tragedy.

  13. You should definitely stop smoking to give your throat a break and after that stick to the PAX. It could be caused by so many different things though, and not necessarily weed. Have you moved recently? Did you start frequenting a different place? There are SO many different kinds of allergies with SO many different triggers and factors which can cause your symptoms. When I was like 12, we moved to a different state and something in our new house triggered nasty throat and lung allergies in me. I developed asthma because of it and my doctor concluded it was allergy related. When we moved, I went back to normal.

Only way to know if weed is causing it, is to stop smoking for a month or two.

  14. Go to the doc and get it checked out. You're statement isn't very plausible.

Yeah you may smoke a lot but so do millions of other pot smoker. Not all of them have sore throats.

oh amd what about cigarette smokers?

  15. chamomile tea should help if you haven't tried it

  16. Lol and 4 years isn't close to being considered a veteran smoker. Get the fuk outta here

  17. You may have some ganj that wasn't flushed properly. Wait for your throat to clear up and start smoking some different shit. Then try what you're smoking now. If it irritates your throat, pitch it.

stop smoking for a month, drink warm water with honey often, again don't even try vaporizing, it will make your throat worse.

you may try edibles or tincture if you still want the high
