Are 14 Year Olds Allowed To Go To 420 Because My Friend Is Bringing One?

Discussion in 'Apprentice Marijuana Consumption' started by Martinconner773, Apr 20, 2014.

  1. he said he was bringing his little brother, however i dont think teen agers are allowed to go?

  2. To just a friends party? Considering the whole event is probably illegal I'm not sure why he couldn't specifically. I certainly wouldn't and when people bring minors to my house, usually their children though, they get put on the game tv or play outside while we do what we do.

  3. wtf it's not like an event, you just smoke with some friends, bring whoever the fuck you want as long as they aren't under 13 (I started smoking at 13). 14 is a fine age to smoke, a little young, but it should be fine.

  4. It's okay for them to be there and be around it imo, but they should not smoke.

  5. What do you mean by "go to 420"?  Is this an event in a city, a private party, or just smoking in general?  If it is a pro-weed legalization rally, I see nothing wrong with bringing a 14 year old, as long as he doesn't smoke or get arrested for civil disobedience.

  6. "I did it at this point so that's the limit for everyone" is failed logic. Against forum guidelines as well but that's the least of what's wrong with that mindset. By that logic I should hand my kid a blunt of his own right now, well a couple years ago actually.

  7. @Jmosleygh 13 is my opinion, I realize that it's different for everyone. I'm sorry that's against forum guidelines, I am new to posting and didn't know it.

  8. I would look up the laws on contributing to the delinquency of a minor in your state. :confused_2:

  9.
I don't think one should make their decisions based on a nations laws....  Use your conscience, fuck the laws.

Agreed. When you started smoking doesn't mean a fucking thing as far as appropriate age barriers go. Smoking is a right of passage that's achieved through circumstance and persistence. Just like when you're a teenager and want to get drunk with your friends, there is an impulse to always try what's taboo to you. Weed has been that staple societal taboo for about 40/50 years. There is no right, or responsible age. When you find it, is when you find it. There are some who catch on a little sooner, but in my experience those are situations where people either run with a pretty rowdy crowd early on, or they are kind of brought into it through a sibling. I wish like hell I had an older brother to guide me, share in the hobby with me, talk with, and split weed costs with growing up. I'm not sure if picking it up at 13/14 would have made me worse off (I doubt it), but that's a couple more years of knowledge and experience that could have been spent learning to grow, or meeting other people. Youth doesn't necessarily always spell disaster- there's just this societal fixation with restricting the world behind some general age consensus, when we don't all grow according to someone's little age chart. We're individuals, and whenever we stumble into something is when we either adopt or shrug it off. It's not a matter of what's right or wrong; it's a matter of when and how. Your kids are going to find out about it with staggering ease. Not only is it widely accepted now culturally, but being so ingrained to the internet (which is very weed-friendly) only speeds up the process and genuine curiosity. The best you can do is educate them at what you feel is a commendable age, and try to instill values in them.

  11. Cannabis use before the brain is developed isnt good IMO.

Around the age of 24 is when the average brain is fully developed. I haven't seen enough research or facts to say it so detrimental to kids brains.

i started smoking when I was 11-12 and if I could go back. I would of waited to at least I was out of highschool. But kids are gonna break the rules and do what they wanna do. Its life

That's fair, but personally I wouldn't feel comfortable smoking with a 14 year old nor would I feel comfortable risking something like that on my criminal record :p

  13.
    And me neither ;).

If you're willing to risk being caught smoking in general, the risk is inherently the same.

  15. I'd tell him to leave the kid at home or ill see you at the party

My state is decriminalized, possession is just a ticket. I'm having trouble finding the contributing to the delinquency of a minor statute, but one site I was reading says every state has a similar law on the books so it may just be under a different title. Anyhow, it's usually a misdemeanor and like I said, not something I would want on my record. :p

Better safe than sorry, that's how I roll.

  17. Not a bad philosophy to have.

  18. Children are not allowed in bars and such after like 9 or 10

They shouldn't be down there as it will put a bad image if they get caught smoking

Assuming going to 420 would be downtown denver civic center

  19. Yeah. I wonder sometimes If I would be different if I hadn't started smoking so young /:

  20. Wtf. He's "going to 420"? I don't think YOU should smoking weed if you think 420 is a place/scheduled event
