my ps3 got the ylod like 3 or 4 years back. they charged me like $150 to fix it. i got it again like a month ago and they charged me $120. they send me a ps3 back that still has the ylod. i turned it on and got the ylod like 2 minutes after while setting the date and time. i feel like sony should hook me up with a free game or something. im still waiting to get another one, sent the ps3 back in like 2 weeks ago. Bitch at them and ask for a ps4, the amount of money you spend on fixing yours you could have just bought a new one :/. I have never had issues like this.
I have a ps2 that still works and the first slim ps3 that I use 6+ hours a day for games and videos. I've never had issues - sorry to hear you are. Maybe if you complain to the right person (always ask for a manager) they'll really hook you up with a solution.

i had a Ps3 "fat" 80gig edition when they first came out I keep that thing ofr the whole 3.55 firmware, enjoyed usb loaders etc etc ... Then I sold that console, and went back to PC gaming for 2 years I've recently purchased a new slim (top loader) ps3 and a ps4 I ahve no complaints really psn network is a great service, and the rewards far exceed those of xbox live gold. but im a collector I still have my slim ps2, with top loader and all the NTSC games Same for every console really ....
Ive had a ps3 since launch and I've never cleaned the thing once and it still works like new to this day, same with my ps2. I personally have had fantastic luck with PlayStation while my friends are on their 3+ Xbox in the same amount of time. Ill be buying a ps4 when some games come out that im interested in.
i had one from launch and logged some maad hours on it until it got yold like 3 years ago. i'm surprised it didn't go out sooner to be honest being played for hours on end with three gamers in the house and one console. we knew it was going out too, it started too over heat and turn off and the fan would get loud, that went on for a while but that was the little ps3 that could, till it couldnt lol. got a new one for a buck ten off cragslist and it works beautifully. i still have my ps2 as well, like the fat ass first ones, still works fine too. alllll of my friends on xbox complain about their console taking a shit on them randomly, i had one friend who went through 4 of them until just buying a PS3.. Our playstations have never failed, and they are years old. I've had much more problems with my 360's
360 was known for their problems. I wonder how PS4 is compared to the Xbox One? In how long it will last. I feel like Manufacturers and Corporations do that on purpose so you have no choice but to buy a replacement or new console.
i repaired the red ring of death and yellow light problems back when I had my expensive tools to do it. I made so much money reselling repaired 360's prior to the xbox ones release it was ridiculous
