Micro Grow, Thanks E Machines

  1. Ok, I started a small cardboard box stealth grow, and got a lot of feedback concerning safety/fire hazard problems. So, I decided to scrap it and build a PC grow.
I kept coming across videos on youtube about it, and got inspired. I live in a private apartment with only one other tenant, my landlord lives across the street. As far as I know, he's never come in when we're not home, but if he did, that old box would stick out a bit.

So far, I've got 2 PC fans working as intake and exhaust. Two 6500k CFL lights, and I went ahead and put in a scrog screen to start lst asap.

I found a seed in my last bag, and am trying to germinate it. I put it in a glass of water for 48 hours and didn't see any sprouts, so I took it out and placed it on a plate with wet paper towels in a plastic bag, and stuck it in my closet. Did that this morning, checked in on it tonight; still nothing.

I placed an order with Herbies on Friday, in case this seed's a dud. I'll be updating on my progress as soon as there's anything to update! :)

  2. What are your temps looking like...does that say 68 in that pic?  How are the temps with the case closed up and the fans going?  And I hate to mention it, but you may have to worry about carbon scrubbing to remove smell later in your grow....

But I wish you the best!  I too am doing a PC grow, only I don't have to worry about stealth/smells

  3. Yeah, it does say 68, I just turned everything on to take a pic. it gets up to around 76 with everything running. As for odor control, not sure what I can rig up to my exhaust that would stick out too much. Been thinking about using an aquarium filter cartridge, since they use activated carbon, and allow for easy airflow.

Checked on my seed this morning, I can see where the sprout is starting to emerge!

edit: nevermind. Thought I saw it. Maybe it was the light? Not sure, but there is a split in the side of the seed....so maybe the root went back in?
I'd moved it from my closet, where it was a little cool, to a box in my room with a heating pad near it.

Well, whatever. I put it in a pot with organic soil that I prepped for it earlier. Just got confirmation that my seeds are on their way!

Checked on my plant today, and found a nice, white, thick sprout(taproot?) poking out from the soil!
Decided to put it in the box to get some light, and warmth I very gentle rolled a small clump of soil to cover it, in case it's a root. If it's a sprout, I'm sure it can push itself up.
Bought a pH/moisture/soil meter today, and everything's good. Temp is 77 and humudity is around 40-ish. I also picked up some 14-14-14 food for now, and some 18-18-21 for later on.

  6. I think this is gonna be my grow log. If anyone has some suggestions about light cycles, let me know! I keep seeing different ones.

What would be a good time to start feeding? I'm thinking after a week or two?

  7. 24-0 such a small area...lights out is when they stretch the most...you should remove the screen for now so u can put something underneath pot to get it up closer to the light...if its too far away its gonna stretch to the light so u wanna prevent as much stretching as possible...

what kind/size pot are you using? i would use a rectangular Tupperware that fits perfectly and takes up all of the bottom of ur pc since u have height against ur advantage u gotta use the width for ur roots/medium.

  8. yeah remove the screen so you can get them about 4 inches from that light for the start.  I wouldn't give nutrients until you have a couple nodes grown, maybe two or three.

I totally agree on using a rectangular pot, that's what I had to do also.  Be sure to cut holes in it for air transfer and water drainage.

I agree with a rectangular pot, I took a ziplock container that's about 3-4" deep but as long/wide as the tower. I wrapped it up in duct tape, and painted it black. Not sure if I want to do a full grow on this, I may do a Solo cup grow. This was a seed I found in a bag, so no clue as to what it is. I've been told it's mid grade.

My seed order is in New York right now. I got some Lemon Kush, and Northern lights, so I may do a full grow on one of those. At least this mystery seed has a head start, so I have some time to determine if it's male before anything else I grow is in danger. Thoughts?

I checked my plant this morning, it's sprouted really nice! It's on a regular light schedule,14/8. I dribbled in a couple of tablespoons of water last night. I stacked it up on some xbox cases. Humidity seems to have dropped a bit, it's just below 40%, should I be concerned?

  10. 14/8? the other 2 hours the lights are flickering?

  11. i guess he meant 16/8.

Humidity is good. would be better to get it up a bit higher though, seedlings like it humid.

  12.
I lol'd.  Can't do maths in the morning!

  13. lol i thought ud like that

  14. Plant's doing great, the stretching has been kept to a minimum. Saw the first tiny jagged petals come out today. Added about two tablespoons of water.
Just found out my seeds will be here tomorrow!

  15. Humidity at 40% is fine, but you'll see more vegetative growth with a slightly higher humidity like 60%+

  16. oh on a side note, I often just keep my soil pretty wet to raise the humidity while it evaporates out of the soil

  17. I think I'm gonna throw in a bottle of water tomorrow then. How wet should I get the soil?

  18. I make sure to pour and let it absorb like a sponge, there will be a slight bit of runoff water coming out the bottom that's how you know you're getting the soil nice and saturated

You don't pour too much runoff because it does wash out your nutrients

  19. Got my seeds on Saturday (Herbies rocks), and started a Northern Lights seed. Put it in soil today and stuck it in the small box to germinate for awhile. Then I'll switch it to my original box to veg/bud.
I wanted to make sure I get at least one female.

  20. Here's a pic of my mystery seed. One week in soil as of today.
