Oh wow nvm looked it up Yes http://youtu.be/qFoBbNHvOME Holy shit that's crazy sick good I'm a convert
John Frusciante Kirk Hammett Jimmy Page Jimmy Hendrix Claudio Sanchez Not necessarily THE best 5, but they are the first 5 to come to mind when I think of epic use of the guitar Totally forgot about Herman Li and Sam Totman, from Dragonforce.. Those two are quite the pair..
you're very luck to have seen garcia and the dead, my father saw them back in 77 also here's one of my favorite on a long list of bluesman https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O0AtMa2UBA8
I dig Eddie Van Halen a lot! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4lrAxUuwkk I can't believe nobody else has mentioned him in this thread!
If I see one more person spell it "Jimmy" Hendrix... Jerry Douglas (to be a bit unconventional) Jimmy Page Kirk Hammett Chet Atkins Duane Allman Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
Ok here's my list, not in any particular order. Eddie Van Halen Jimmy Handricks @[member="BabyLynnRose"] (lol jk) David Gilmour Eric Clapton Jimmy Page
Been obsessed with guitar for a while now I listen to all the greats. Shawn Lane is def #1 just his style is so free and open when he improvises he can go literally anywhere its amazing. Almost all the stuff he did with Jonas Hellborg is live improv too. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QzB4kncibqU
Had to listen to this again-He's a badass-love the way he plays real quiet and then fucking rrrrrips...such an emotional way to play-besides all the technical stuff he's doing-damn @about 3:30 min he goes into a whole other level of guitar-never seen anybody play like @5 min-It looks like just fast scaling but it's not b/c of the other stuff he's doing with it and that shit he does @ 8:16 or so..just damn If there was still rep I'd give you a big chunk
This is tuff but I will try....I love guitar, been playing for 15yrs. 1. Eric Clapton-my personal guitar hero 2. SRV--I mean this dude was the truth 3. Joe Satriani--mostly because of technical ability but also plays with emotion. 4. Jimmy Page-duh 5. Joe Bonamassa obviously there are so many more......guitar rules.
Tommy Emmanuel is pretty amazing on acoustic....i'm actually not a big fan but I admire his talent. Also Mike Einziger from incubus....big fan of his, seen that band 3 times.
I'll second Emmanuel. I'm not into his stuff, but I saw him live and it was life changing Sent from my iPhone using Grasscity Forum
