Henry Kohen from Mylets is a great young guitarist. Not too much a fan of his vocal style but excellent guitar work. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYdYdwSPY18 Also, Minus the Bear has a few awesome guitarist. If you can tell I like effect pedals https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RjSN_jEORfk
The first guy is really good-yeah-but he's playing with those pedals a WHOLE lot. I see what he's going for though. It reminds me of what STS9 does but they use electronic looped stuff while playing many other instruments in long extended improv jamzzz. The most loved/seen band of my life-and I've seen a lot. Minus the Bear .. I liked that a lot...but it really bothered me that the guy on the drums was drumming in a tight ass brown shirt buttoned to the top. I mean, why would you want to do that to yourself?? This is a film documentary with Jimmy Page, Jack White, and Edge all sitting down and talking about their creative process-Edge likes the pedals too. Jack uses them while doing other shit like playing the organ-likes the distortion. They talk about how they first started out and Page's story is pretty funny. During this they teach each other some of their famous stuff and play together-You can see how fast they learn just by watching each other. Love that. http://youtu.be/PkSWslN090M Also-this is NOT in Spanish. ^^
Gotta stay fly till you die. But I never really have given STS9 a good listen, I'll check em out. And I love that film, Jimmy is a hell of a guitarist and Zepp is probably my favorite band of all time.
I will hook that shit up righ' now http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3MdKS3mYI-4&feature=share&list=PL008E0F8FCF6D60BB This is an all out got'damn hippie show-done the right way. Have never felt so good after seeing them ...everytime, Instantly Has some trance elements-lots of instrumentation at the same time. Drummer is insane. I think I might have already written that in this thread somewhere. Fuck it-deserves another mention.
I've seen Zappa Plays Zappa before-He can absolutely do his father now..was blown away. Napolean-the black singer/sax that was always with Frank, was there with him in the band. Zoot Allures and Hot Rats were the best. It was some of my first 'stoned' listening. I hung around a bunch of guys that knew what good music was.
Here's some more by Fripp Sorry guitar comes in at around two minute mark. Builds up into real technical stuff around 5:00 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L0e2HcZAg_Q Here's another technical one http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6GJr3AhMApI&feature=kp
Frank Zappa Jerry Garcia Leo Kottke Robert Fripp Hendrix Tony Iommi and a lot more those are just some of my favorites https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kv_ffps5J1k
Hey -That was damn fine-I had heard of him but hadn't listened.......then again that's why I made this thread,,I'm there with you on Jerry...He could make you blissfully happy and miserable...sometimes all in one song
Jerry garcia has a very advanced, quick, precise style of playing which derives from his bluegrass fast picking banjo days, it's a really unique style and one of the best https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnWZ2GTCKt4
Yeah, I know. That's why he did covers like that-'dat his roots I listened to him for a long time-saw him sing this a few times before he died with his other band..JGB
if you google Champagne Charlies on Utube there is a Jam session in France with John Darlington, Howie G, and Didier Landreau three completely contrasting styles, Its stunning and no-one has ever heard of them just goes to show dont it
