I've been listening to electronic music for awhile-but the past couple days have gotten back into the '70's music/rip guitar. Title says it-Who's done the most for a particular guitar style-or what players do you like best? Once you become a player you see it all differently-all the creativity and the feeling of it. Jimmy Page, Jerry Garcia, Jack White, Neil Young-those are probably my top-each of them having a different kind of style. I'm not necessarily talking about noodlers like Steve Vai-that type of good-but about their style....AC/DC-Tool-Stevie Ray Vaughn-it goes on and on. Hopefully some people still listen to it..bunch of stoners after all http://youtu.be/CGzk2O9QhB8 http://youtu.be/-t1_ETuWIbE I mean holy shit...^ Thank god I saw them before they broke up
My two favorite rock guitarists are: Jimi Hendrix (Innovate and expressive use of the instrument) Jimi Page (great all around skill, great compositions) My two favorite jazz guitarists are: Django Reinhardt (great ability and great compositions) Wes Montgomery (great ability, fantastic feel) I've got one slot open - I think that would have to go to Steve Cropper (Great feel, great team player) of Stax fame.
OMAR https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hdrVKKsCIFI https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cz6kl-msXDk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1vJbeCP4gXk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEb-OqAgEc8
Hell yes for Hendrix-Evident listening to his music that he tripped balls..but that made it even better- He had amazing skill-he's definitely my other slot-haha Heard of Django-but haven't listened- I saw John Scofield awhile back with Medeski, Martin, Wood great show
the first is the original guitarist..... killed by drunk driver on way to a show i was at....... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u-xB6Z1Gv2Y hear are a couple more favorites..... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gnn9sjJLOQE https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=felyOmO6liE
Listened to Omar He's got a Zappa kind of long extended jam style-very good doing stuff around the house music..I would get alot of stuff done on the first- Not saying he lifted Zappa at all-but maybe it was an influence. The last one there is a definite go to for smoke time. If you like that- listen to Tortoise-they are all amazing musicians-there's no lead-they all just jam for extended periods of time http://youtu.be/cHCNeDdSQEU This one is quiet^ I was looking for some footage of when I saw them @Bonnaroo, but there aren't any good angles/camera shots that aren't jumping around and people woo-hoo-ing
He definitely had the Steve Vai thing going on...I know CoC-you'd probably like Clutch-they aren't as aggressive/angry-its great stoner rock-Saw @ Bonnaroo too-I don't think we even slept-and we were camped in bumfuck-and it was so hot you couldnt even sleep in a tent-but I'd do it again oh would I-and will again just not this year-the school year always fucks me up Back in a while to listen to the rest-Its fucking cold outside so Im'll make the most of the last day of my break- stay stoned all day and listen to music
Check this out-was there to the right toward around lots of shirtless guys and clouds of weed-hah http://youtu.be/ua-iR3sYcjE
Looked him up-This was pretty badass- King Crimson http://youtu.be/RxEbFxwed3M I had never heard of a Warr guitar
One of the greatest guitarists ever.... Flat out... But he is a cocky ass hole. He can hold notes for sooooo damn long too. it gets really good once he picks up the electric guitar @ 3:45. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XNOa5Gjh2lc
No way-Dated some guitars players that were enchanted with him..Listened to his stuff over and over until they could play it-One in particular could play him really well. And you won't kill this thread...no no...Too many great guitarists out there. He's just a great one of a particular style. Robert Randolph is Amazing to see live-He's plays mostly music fests-so funky. I danced during one of his shows until I was exhausted..literally had to sit down toward the end. That's such a good feeling-esp when you're working off something X-tra. ahha http://youtu.be/gt5BVuIv4t8
