Hygrozyme And Roots Excellorator

  1. Hey what's up stoners?

I have recently been battling a bacteria slime issue in my dwc system . I had not been running any B ennies . The hydro shop guy said that's what I needed and I got a 20$ bottle .

I did a little research and found mixed reviews some ppl love it some say it sucks !

Its supposed to be an enzyme that breaks down decaying roots or bacteria and converts it into useable food for the plant at least that's what I understand ...

It's ormi certified so im wondering if I would be causing any adverse effects if I were to run the in conjunction with roots excell .

I really cant find much info on what's actually is in each product .. which I really dont like

I want to start introducing some Bennie s into my dwc system !

All opinions, questions , advice, and experiences welcome !

  2. I use bennies - great white. You've got to get after whats causing your problem. Bennies and stuff like sensizyme I would use more as a preventive maintenance thing than a cure. Do you have enough air running in your rez? What is the temp of your rez?

  3. I have used both, Roots excel is a better product imo, but also cost a lot more. Im now using hygrozyme because on the HandG website they say you cant use roots excel in a resi if you use a airstone.
From what i remember about their contents, its all pretty much beneficial bacteria.

  4. Im sure you only need one or the other as if you would only use one enzyme, like i said roots excel is better and will proberly do more for your plants, i say this based on my own experience. I have always used one or the other but i also tend to stop reading about things once i have found what works for me, i also use oxyplus which is why i stopped using roots excel.
This i think is a way to maintain sales with people using airstones cos like i said in my experience its not good with airstones.

There saying not to use it with h2o2 because it will kill the beneficial bacteria that roots excell works on creating

Roots excell IMO is used in hydroponic systems all the time

Using roots excell and h2o2 is cancelling each other out and basically just wasting your money

The update thing in regards to the air stones is new like I said in my previous post its now labeled on the cap of the bottle

  6. Ok you got me thinking now, i know that using both Roots excel and h2o2 cancell out each other thats why i stopped using Roots excel but, I always been under the impression Roots excel and hygrozyme pretty much do the same thing (i understand not completely the same), so you say hydro grows should use both providing you dont use h2o2.

  7. Im not saying that either lol

I was hopping to get a discussion going on in regards to using both hygrozyme being an enzyme and roots excell being an amino acid mostly (unless they changed that too)

Id imagine that they each serve a purpose in the plants uptake of nutes but im not totally sure

From what I've read about enzymes it can get preety confusing .. but its gut to do with molecules shapes and they dont join if they shapes dont fit perfect enzymes break down other molecules to form the exact shape needed to join other molecules ... hard to explain and I just started reading about it

  8. I dont know if this links will help in anyway op. I have never grown with DWC before so i have no idea about problems and things that occur with that method.
