Is Miracle Grow To Harsh For Marijuana

Discussion in 'First Time Marijuana Growers' started by Birdmanlives, Apr 19, 2014.

  1. Ive been reading a lot that miracle grow may be to harsh for plants and growing up on a farm and around gardens besides the basics miracle grow is all i know. Ive used the potting in all my first plants and have had decent results I also use there nitrogen rich nutrient water for vegetation. For flowering I have a very organic mix of fresh cow manure, oak ashes banana peels that were decomposing and soil from a decomp pile. Ive been using miracle grows rose feed though lately (in the final week or so of flowering) for lack of knowledge of anything else. Im wondering if this will affect the finished product?

  2. if you can build a soil to use in flower, it can be used for the entire grow, no fertilizer salts required. you can grow with MG, it's all in your preference, let no one tell you otherwise. will it be optimal? not likely but again it all depends on what you want.

  3. I have two plants in MG. It was all I could afford at the time. They look fine, I'm hoping they will smoke ok.

  4. Same here I've seen that people say it gives a bad taste

  5. I wouldn't start seeds in it, although I am sure many have with success.  There is a MG seed starting mix for a reason.

I'm not an advocate of MG, but thousands have grown MJ in it with success.

    I just despise the company.

  6. Miracle grow is notorious for giving marijuana a kicking, but I believe the problem is dosage, not the actual fertiliser itself. Marijuana is very sensitive to nutrient strength, especially when seedling. Miracle grow soil is likely way too strong but mixed with perlite and peat at a ratio of 1/1/1 will probably be ok .

The fertiliser will be ok as long as you don't go over a quarter strength and don't start using it until the plants actually need it.

Miracle grow is a very general fertiliser used for a wide range of plants, most of which will require way more nutes than marijuana

  7. Im a beginner but I had a seedling grow beautifully. Trial and error always works too, Im using mosture plus potting mix, currenty, and its doing the job.

  8. I used it last time and had no problems, so i'm using it again this time. (High nitrogen to start, organic choice to flower in)

  9. I have two in flower in MG and two in hydro. Same strain.  The MG plants have done fine and I fertilized with MG, or I did, I'm trying to finish them now.  I don't know how successful I will be flushing as the MG I bought will feed for six months and mine are three months old.  The MG plants were smaller than the hydro, but matured and started flowering before the hydro plants.  The hydro pants are much bigger and it looks like they're  two or three weeks behind their sisters..  I'm harvesting some early and some later to check which high I like better.  My trichomes are just getting cloudy. I prefer energetic to couchlock.

Hi, I think we have the same MG is yours the one that says feeds for two months at the bottom? I was looking for organic but could only find it in MG so I got that then when I got home I saw that it said feeds for two months. How is yours doing?

Here is the one I got just to check

  12. I thought about getting the moisture control this time, but went with what worked last time..maybe next time I'll mix it up a bit.

  13. 2 CF of MG Organic Choice, 1 CF any old cheap shit, a gallon or two of perlite, cup of bone meal and a cup of blood meal and some horticultural Epson salts and it works great.,

  14. I dont think MG is bad for mariuana, That being said I would NEVER buy a product from a monsanto owned company. Yeah it will def grow your plant, but giving money to a company like that only allows them to have more control then they already have/are seeking.

  15. I used the mg seed starter and at first all was fine, but it eventually through off my phone and caused a nute lockout. I had to transplant into my own organic compost. After that all was good. I don't think I would use it again, personally. I did have a grow buddy that loved growing in the mg orchid mix. He said it never effected the taste and that he barely had to feed his plant at all. I do, however, use the mg tomato food nutes for my vegging plants with great success. Just start at a quarter dosage and work your way up to find a spot your plants are happiest at.

  16. Last time I used MG they had an organic choice lineup. Like snoop said, bone meal, blood meal, soil, and perlite, all "MG Organic Choice" products found at wal-mart. It's a better alternative to using their dry chemicals but you have to mix everything together before planting.

When I used their pre-nuted soil that "feeds for 90 days" I had serious ph issues, didn't add lime to it like I should have.

Cheaper and better to mix your own soil, bale of peat is $10 and will last a couple hundred gallons. Composted manure is $3-$4 a bag, 5lb bag of tomato tone is $6 ...most expensive part is the perlite and that's still cheap (30 gal bag for $30).

  17. My moisture plus, is also actually mixed with miracle grow on a 50/50 effort. Works beautifly.
