Cheap Grow Setup

Discussion in 'Growing Marijuana Indoors' started by Jakob_024, Apr 18, 2014.

  1. I made a cheap indoor grow-setup. I know this will not work because there's not enough room in the pot for 5 plants, but if I just had one in here would it successfully grow?

There's 4 plants a couple inches tall in there right now

If you only have that corner to work with, try looking into a one-bucket system. I'll look into that more.

Still, that pot is going to be too small soon and you'll need to transplant. A downside to common soil beds is that you need to ensure there's enough room from the start because the roots can become tangled.

That light is too high and you'll need shelves, so stacking milk crates has worked for me in harder times. A plus about shelves is you can grow in the shelves as well, as is done in mass produced grow cabinets.

Look into some soil intended for this plant. I initially used zen organics soil, and it was pretty forgiving and not particularly expensive. If you can't get it in your area, you can mix your own or use a substitute, but in my experience Miracle Gro is less than ideal for the plant.

Either way, congrats on getting involved! Tell us more about your grow setup!

  3. Thanks for the feedback brother. I'll immediately move the light, and find a new soil. At this current set up do you think I could fit 2 in that pot. If so I'll move the other 3 outdoors and let them grow that way

  4. Easy to grown in there if you had a real light.

  5.
You know it. the #1 thing on an indoor grow.

  6. I don't even know what kind of light that is. A fake led light??

  7.
looks like a small aquarium floro light fixture

  8. On the box it says LED Grow Light.

Interesting, it looks very white. Most led grow lights I've seen have mixed red and blue light. If they are all white, chances are it is a higher spectrum, only good for vegging the plant (which isn't bad, it would just mean you would need a different light for flowering). Does the box show the spectrum? It would be measured in K. (kelvin scale)

  10. Can't find anything, it might just be the picture. IMO it's extremely blue

I guess it is just hard for us to see it like you do in the photo. If it is extremely blue, then it is probably going to work just fine. I do think you need some red in it for flowering, but I don't know that much about led grow lights.

I do think you should move them closer to the plants though... maybe 24" away to start, then every day or two move it an inch closer until you are around 16" from the plants canopy.

  12. I'm really curious about your light now because I can't find anything like it online. What is the make and model?
