Crossing America On Foot

  1. A venture I may very well be taking up soon. Michigan to... idk. Somewhere west. $2-300. I'm a survivalist I know this is something I'm capable of doing. Lay down any tips or advice or what have you. More than anything I'm looking for suggestions of where to go. I mean a hippie commune, a wwoof stead, idk, somewhere a fellow can get back on his feet. Fire away.

  2. Look at couch surfing. They have a website for people doing just what you are doing and others well offer to let you crash on their couch while you pass through. It's free lodging but it would be common courtesy to bring your host a six pack or a nug or something to show your appreciation.

  3. Damn sounds like it would be good fun! If you go to a commune take some pics for us at GC!

    Fuck yo presents!

  4. Things changed, I probably won't be taking up this venture until next spring. Still dead set on doing it. I've looked at couchsurf but roughing it with a small tent is more my style. Thinking I might actually build a crazy lightweight kevlar/mylar one this summer. Next year I'll hopefully have enough saved not to worry about food, that is my #1 concern. And that way if I find somewhere I really want to be I can rent somewhere to live without issue, as soon as I find work. Gotta be something more interesting than this hodunk state.

Do it forest gump style. You have to drink (or at least swim) in both ocean to signifies begining and end. You should look into Terry Fox story, the guy wanted to run across canada from one ocean to the other. He died of cancer on the way but it is nonetheless an inspiring story.

  6. Read the book Planetwalker by John Francis. He did this from coast to coast in the 80s in silence! Then he he said that wasn't enough and continued from the northern tip of south America to the southern tip. Def a cool book I use to read once a year

Can't really do coast to coast, I'd have to travel 1000 miles just to reach the east, then start across. No thank you lol. I've never heard one good thing about the east coast anyway
