I'm sure most of you know that CBD (Cannabidiol)  is just as effective as any antipsychotic and has fewer side effects. Its also effective in anxiety, depression and possibly OCD as well as many other non-psychiatric illnesses.

Anyways the reason for my posting was that I needed advice on how to use this without going broke.

Moving to a medical state is out of the realm of possibility but I've found that online you can purchase <100mg of cbd for about 40$ and <500mg of cbd for about 100$

My girlfriend is in all likelihood schizophrenic (or some other illness in that spectrum such as bipolar or schizoaffective disorder), she has a paradoxical reaction to typical and atypical antipsychotics so these aren't an option. CBD seems promising for schizophrenia but the doses used are in the range of 500mg to 800mg...roughly. This means that taking cbd orally would cost at least $3000 dollars a month...NOT POSSIBLE

I've read that inhaling cbd vs eating makes it at least 5 times more potent. I figured then that smoking it would reduce the price by five times...So that puts it at $600 dollars a month, a lot more reasonable.

However, I have no idea how you can ideally smoke a tincture that dissolves cbd in alcohol. I thought, maybe i could evaporate the alcohol but when i looked up the boiling point I found cbd evaporates at lower temperatures than alcohol.
Maybe it doesn't really matter if you burn up this alcohol while you smoke the cbd?

Is there some other method of ingesting CBD that is more cost effective? Does anyone know of a cheaper source or have evidence that it is effective at lower doses?

    Any advice appreciated
    :bongin:

Edit: after some wikipedia found out i was mistaken, alcohol DOES have a lower boiling point than CBD

  2. Making/Growing your own is the cheapest way to go. Its that Rick Simpson Oil that I think your talking about.

  3. youre not going to want to try buying drugs online, places offering legal cbd extracts are scams, there are a select few places its legal. also, being in all likelihood schizophrenic doesnt sound like a diagnosis, that disorder isnt something you just say yeah thats probably me, its a debilitating disorder.

Officially she is diagnosed as Bipolar and Agoraphobic and Genereral Anxiety. I did not mean to offend you. My girlfriend has auditory and sometimes visual hallucinations. At different points of her life this has been worse and been accompanied by delusional thinking and/or paranoia. She is extremely unwilling to share any of these symptoms with her doctors because A) antipsychotics cause her delusional thinking and hallucinations to become amplified and She is afraid to go to a hospital.

You're right, I'm not qualified to diagnose anyone with any particular DSMV disorder however there is definitely evidence of some sort of psychotic disorder in my girlfriend that is independent from any severe depression or mania and CBD thankfully does not discriminate between which kind of debilitating mental disorder you have. So regardless if my girlfriend has schizophrenia, or schizoaffective disorder, or a tumor in her head, she is suffering and dysfunctional and I'd very much like her to find some peace.

I don't doubt there are cbd scams out there but I've successfully purchased 100mg tincture from dixiebotanicals and it was the real deal. Unless Dixiebotanicals put some amazing antiinflammatory to fool people like me but that stuff sure put my joints at ease as well as those of 3 other people.

  5. nah, I'm talking about hemp derived CBD, made in canda and imported here, to any state. The law is not precisely clear on the subject but entrepreneurs argue that because it is derived from hemp and it contains <1% THC it is legal to import to the states. I've already done it without any repercussions, at the time I had hoped that it would help alleviate my OCD but i found that at those low doses it was ineffective. However it helped with my girlfriends nausea and arthritis, me it just made my joints really nice feeling but thats about it. Thing is using that dropper as intended you only get 4mg or so of CBD, I'm looking for far more, or methods to increase its bio-availability.

  6. it probably isnt realistic outside a nonmed state without growing your own or knowing a grower.

maaaaaaybe extracting from hemp seed is worth looking into but probably even more unrealistic for the home consumer

  7. Time is the answer.

All grasscity is, is a big think group. You would need to put together a team of scientist growers and a lab so they can fiddle with thc/cbd all day.

I would imagine you would need to grow a high CBD low THC strain. De-carb the weed to help remove more thc, and go from there.

RSO is the one thing I have not made and I am hearing its a cure all. Find a way to refine that and you may have your answer.

&about the OCD. Marijuana will just make it worse. You may incorporate taking the medicine into your daily ritual.

  8. Does hemp make CBD, since it makes very little to no THC? That is what he bought basically, hemp tincture.

What about converting THC into CBD? I've found you can convert CBD to THC...can the opposite be true?

Moreherb, do you know from experience about weed making OCD worse? Its confusing to me, while i'm high and by myself it can improve things but when coming down it can indeed be worse..idk feels wrong to stop smoking.

  10. Maybe a vaporizer will get the most cbd out of the plant compared to smoking.

  11. Hemp does make CBD but not nearly as much as some weed strains out there.

  12. yeah i use pot in place of anti-psychotics fuck them things make me tweek hard.. cost me 300/month usually zip/ month.

  13. Personally I would find a low thc, high cbd strain and go with a vape.  Maybe try and get into contact with the Stanley brothers, famous for growing 'charlotte's web".  I believe they were recently allowed to ship their cbd oil around the country to medical states.

  14. ^^This guy knows What's up. That's exactly what your looking for. I medicate for schizophrenia and panic with agoraphobia and strains high in cbd help allot. Import some seeds and grow the shit

I dont know you so I cant be too sure. I have a mild OCD case, just routines. I do everyday the same, I Do my job at work the same, and I am not perfect in anyway just very Attention to detail (Just kicked my girl out because of it). Part of my routine is I must get spaced stoned before I go out the house. Thats why I was saying that weed can make OCD worse; you may incorporate weed into your lifestyle positively or negatively.  The most weed does for me is helps me sleep, no OCD when your sleeping. When my situation changes negatively my mild OCD and anxiety collide and I cannot smoke weed at all or I will get something like depressed. The best thing I can say is Marijuana treats everybody different.

Try edibles. They will keep you at bay all day.
