My torch is on the smaller size, its a handheld with 2 streams, and I have a difficult time heating this thing up. I've used this torch on plenty of other ti nails and never had this problem before. It takes foreveeer to get red hot(I don't aim for red, but I've just tried and it takes a while). I have to heat it with my flame pointing diagonally down onto the pan surface and it's kind of just a guessing game, at this point I've gotten used to the avg time it takes to get the dab temps, but its still kinda a pain.
I have the exact same style nail (minus the ability to remove the head for cleaning) and I love it. At first however was a different story. I really thought I had dropped $40 for no reason, as I was getting better results with my Quartz Nail and dome. However then I got a Torch Lighter like this and changed my opinion greatly. if you're going to use a Ti Nail, you have to get a better torch. Now my dome and nail is in a box just in case I ever need it.
Heat the center until it's barely glowing red hot, wait a few seconds (like 3-4) then dab right in the center. MAKE SURE YOU SEASON YOUR NAIL BEFORE YOU DAB ON IT.
