Hello GC, I have been reading all the cool topics and taking in all the good advice everyone has shared here on GC, thanks so much. I wanted to share my first grow with everybody, maybe I can help out someone else by posting all my mistakes.... lol I would love to hear all comments as im totally new to growing. Let me start this off with the grow equipment. I built a grow box from some ideas I found on the net and came up with this. 36"x22"x16" Sterilite Storage Cabinet 120mm x 25mm AC adjustable speed box fans x 2 ( intake & exshust ) 20"x14" Light hood with 120mm x 25mm AC adjustable speed box fan for cooling 8 x 23 watt 5000k 1600 lumens cfl's for veg 8 x 23 watt 2700k 1500 lumens cfl's for flower 6 x 23 watt 2700k 1500 lumens cfl's for subliminal lighting during flowering My growing medium is Canna Coco and perlite mix of 70% coco and 30% perlite. I have the girls in 1.5 gallon pots. I went with the smaller pots to save head room, as it is now I have 22" head room for growth. That being said, my plan is to FIM these girls and do some LST to get all the light avaliable to the bud sites. The nute schedule Im going to be running is Canna A&B, Canna Rhizotonic, Cannazym and Cannaboost and Cal-Mag Plus from Botanicare im going to start my nutes at week 2 or 3...... lol I think we will let the girls make that decision. I stared by germinating 2 Nirvana Nothern Lights fem beans in a black shot class with distilled water covered by a black cup for 24 hours. I put this set up in my sock drawer where the temp remains at 78 degrees all the time. The tap root broke through about 22 hours. I planted the beans about a knuckle deep straight to there 1.5 gal. pots. I prep the coco with distilled water Ph'ed to 5.8 by watering it till I had a good amount of run off. I put the pots in the grow box to let them acclimate while I ready the beans for transfer. I transfered the beans using a pair of tweezers orienting the tap rood down. I just kept the top of the coco moist around the beans while I waited for the girls to brake ground. The grow space temps range from 81 deg. to 86 deg. with a Rh range of 31% to 39%. The first girl saw the world for the frist time 48 hours later so we will call her #1 lol. # 2 wasent to far behind emerging at 60 hours. I mosied the coco a bit when they broke ground however I did not water them fully to the point of run off. I let the top of the first 2 inchs of the coco dry out and watered the fully till I had 20% to 30% run off. What a trip it has been to do this!!!! I welcome all comments and only want to learn more about growing and get with some people that share this passion as much as I do. I have attached some pics of the grow bow and I will post some of the girls later today. Good luck with everything! I may be wrong on this, but you should be careful with the fim and lst while growing in such small pots. Once they become root bound, the growth will slow and the plants will have a bit of a tougher time recovering from the stress of a fim Like I said, that could be wrong, so take it with a mg of calmag
Thanks so much for replying! I will totally check on the fimming, my whole focus on these girls is to keep them small and build a nice canopy. But like they say a little goes a long way, so maybe I switch the plan up. No worries here I just want whats best for the girls Would you have any suggestions for me? Im really just trying to learn to grow, I figured I would start small and learn to grow top shelf bud on a micro level. I love to dial things in.... lol Any and all comments welcome. Hello GC, Just thought I would post some pics of the girls as of today. They seem happy..... No water today, Im thinking the root system should be hunting down all available moisture....
