Just bought both from my local hydro store and some perlite to transplant my babies to their permanent homes. I already did the transplanting and I seems like it went well but the question I had was regarding the info I got from the hydro store. They told me to mix the 2 together with some perlite so what I did was mixed 2 scoops of the soils and 1 scoop of the perlite. Are these good to mix together? Also with the this organic mix does this mean I don't use nutes? I'm new to growing Sent from my SM-N900P using Grasscity Forum mobile app
Never listen to the guy at the hydro store. It rarely ever works out for anyone. I would suggest reading some of the soil mix recipes around here and bring the bagged soil you bought back to the store. Just my 2 cents.
I hear all sorts of recipes of the mix... 2 parts each soil 1ish part perl (* i use this) 2 parts frog, 1 part fox, 1 part perl 2 parts frog 1 part fox 1 part each of those and promix hp... etc, etc... seems to vary depending on where you are. drainage, water retention are key to your mix. start with less perl and add until it drains how you want while retaining water between feedings. edit:: these are 'organic' but will need organic nutes for a good proper grow.
Those two mixed together may be enough for a water only grow, as OF is notoriously hot, though supposedly missing a couple important ingredients (couldn't tell you what, Its been awhile since I heard it, and I didnt do follow up research), Whether or not happy frog would rectify that (if OF is actually missing something), I cant say. Even if its not strong enough to be water only the whole cycle, you could always topdress if deficiencies appear.
They are not enough, even the "hot" ocean forest. I planted seeds right into ocean forest only and they were fine. Better be prepared to feed something after 3-4 weeks.
SEND YOUR STOREBOUGHT SOIL STRAIGHT TO HELL!!!! jk.. cut it down for seedlings/ fully unrooted plants... then give it a small medium mix of 1" between your stronger soil so the roots push to the stronger stuff at the bottem when needed.
im just a beginner and this is my first grow. that's what he told me because I was going to get 2 bags of oceanic forest cus it seemed like it had a lot of good organic stuff mixed In but I got one of both and I mixed in a little bit of perlite. My plants are small cus I had probably the worst light possible but now I have 6 26 watt 6500k cfls. I just transplant them yesterday buried buried the stem down to the first leaves I also just planted a afghan goo seed today! Sent from my SM-N900P using Grasscity Forum mobile app
I too am a first time farmer using CFLs. I'm using FFOF soil and the FF trio, all is well Here's what my plants look like 2nd day of flowering
what watt CFLs? And do u have a grow log on hear Sent from my SM-N900P using Grasscity Forum mobile app
During veg I used 3 6500K & 1 2700K bulbs. I also have 2 MR16 LEDs as well. The LEDs have 2 red & 1 blue diode, which give of a purple color. Now that I am flowering I'm using 3 2700K bulbs, 1 6500K bulb & the LEDs. I went from 24/0 directly to 12/12. ....and no I don't have a grow log on here. What I have learned is to nute less, no more.
you will need nutes eventually if you use ffof and hf. But if you decide to flower sooner than later you might not need nutes till you are actually in flower.
