Right so i have a nice plant and don't want to keep going and bying seeds for it... Normally i'd keep a mother and take clones right! What if it were an Autoflower? Now obviously i know its not possible to keep an auto in veg... It will just flower when it feels like it and be done with! But was curious if there was any way of increasing the yield from that one plant! Is there any way to get multiple plants from an auto at all, by cloning? Or are auto's just a means to an end in that respect? Does the 'dumb ass question of the week' award go to me?
I mean, I guess you could but not really. Look at it this way...if you take an auto that's 15 days into veg and clone it, that clone will essentially be 15 days into veg as well. So it will be a smaller plant, less yield, etc. Moreover, you can't continue to clone perpetually off an auto. Because she's going to flower when she wants to. So I guess in theory you could take some cuttings from a young auto, but you would want to take them all at the same time which would give you more plants. But it can also stress the donor plant. Just too many variables and I think it's pointless. You'd be better off just growing the shit out of that one and LST'ing her, topping/fimming, etc. Just my two cents.
Its all good dude, I was just curious as i keep reading you 'can't clone an auto' rather than 'shouldn't' as its just impractical to do so! I'm on my 1st grow atm... X4 bagseed and X1 Early Bud (regular) about 6-8 weeks from finish Wanted to test the water before spending on auto fem seeds! But since its going ok i decided to get some ordered
By the time the clone is fully rooted flowering will be taking place and root growth will have slowed right down so another clone just isn't going to happen. While the first clone is rooting foliage will be slowed as the root system tries to catch up. The whole idea is pointless because even if you did end up with a few plants instead of one they will end up yeilding piss all
Thanks dude, it wasn't something i would consider trying anyway. I was just satisfying my inane curiosity as to things that you don't see being done. I know that if it isn't being done there is probably a good reason for it but sometimes its that obvious i just don't see it lol
I think the best way to increase the yield on an auto is to buy another seed. But hypothetically speaking if you had a few males and instead of chucking them you cut them off at the stem and crafted a female cutting on the root stock I think overall yield would increase a bit
