  1. Or is this just an irrational fear of mine

Cooks food faster and so it prevents the nutrition from degrading so much , which is caused by more conventional ways of cooking. And as for cancer causing, I believe it's a hasty conclusion  to be making , since a lot of the foods microwaved are highly processed foods , that may well share something in common that makes a valid third variable. And we must also ask when saying whether it causes cancer, to find a propery baseline. If it's no different that stirfrying, baking ,frying and deep frying , then it should be no concern. It's a lower frequency than visible light,so it has less energy, so I don't see how it can somehow molecularly change the food in a way , any more than other methods to cause cancer. I can think ways how microwave causes lead to less cancer, is that since it's a more efficient heating method, a lot of vitamins and minerals will be contained, thus the micronutrient remains relatively intact. and it does not make the food radioactive, which is really the main concern.

Only reason not to use one is for culinary reasons in my book. Like a baked potato will always taste better since it's more crispy(which causes cancer yet no one really cares), but if you're going to use the potato in curry than it's not much different than boiling a potato at its prep stage before making curry./stew.

  11. microwaves are secret illuminati machines. They spy on you, while sending mind control thought waves into your brain. You need to wear a full lead suit while operating those things.

  12. You gotta be careful about heating foods in plastic bags/containers...I only use glassware in the microwave...never use styrofoam take out restaurant containers...

  13. ok guys, let me apologize ahead of time in case I offend anyone here, I'd just like to set this one straight for you. If you use a microwave for any food that you consume you are putting radiation into your body and your body will not recognize the nutrients and therefore will not absorb any of it. Trust me on this one guys, the info on this is out there, real and solid info that will make you think twice about reheating some leftovers..no matter how ripped you are

if you're down for a bit of reading about how exactly a microwave works and why it's bad for you. Hope this helps

  14. ^ that source seems legit.....until you get to the part where they start talking about life energy.....and even before that they offer no solid info........

I don't. I just think it could explode! I always stand to the side. And my food.. I know that's wrong. But I use it. Like a good sheeple

  16. I do not own a microwave.
Anything I want I can make stove top, in the oven or in the crockpot.

  19. So, if you read the sources of the source listed on that blog page, they're pretty inconclusive. My favorite is "Microwaved eggs may cause direct vision-threatening corneal damage", and links to an article regarding two patients who received thermal burns to the eye after the eggs they were cooking in the microwave exploded

  20. Not offended at all.
Anyway, the dangers listed there are either non-existent or unrelated to microwaves as electromagnetic radiation.
First off, any substance that is opaque or semi-opaque to microwaves will be heated up due to the atoms' vibrating at a greater amplitude than before. So the claim about the violence of the vibrations is false.
Second, they speak of isomerisation of water. Yes there do exist two types of non-isotopic water: ortho-water and para-water. Well, the ratio for the two forms in nature is around 3:1, so I don't see how that's a problem. Wikipedia it.
And then they insinuate that sunlight contains only non-ionising radiation. At the same time, electric blankets apparently emit ionising radiation :D
That's about as far as I was willing to go, since I then encountered weird stuff like 'life energy'. Sorry if I cause offence :D

His reply was perfectly civil. He pointed out something humorous about the article, and you promptly replied with expletives.
Are you sure you are capable of meeting differing opinions with equanimity? Perhaps you need some introspection there.
Also, this is the science section. Unsubstantiated conjecture and fantasy have no place here, so please spare us the spleen of your obviously limited intelligence.
