Baking With Vape Leftovers?

Discussion in 'Weed Edibles' started by spincut, Apr 16, 2014.

  1. It has been suggested to me for years now since I've owned my volcano to save my vaped stuff. I didn't pay it much mind at first, but when enough people corroborated that the stuff is still useful even when browned (especially out of a Volcano given it heats it so evenly, in fact, the stuff that comes out of my pax is usually a bit more charred so I dont even bother saving the leavings from that), I figured to finally start saving it up.

My question is, will this even be worth the effort? Despite people claiming the stuff is still good and all, I keep getting the impression there must be some sort of downside? Like it maybe not being as strong as if I used fresh herb?

    Anyone able to weigh in?

  2. General rule for baking with ABV(already been vaped)  use 3-4 times as much ABV as you would fresh herb.  I would find out what you want to bake and go from there.  Cookies are my fav, since they don't take long to bake.  I have only made butter before but most brownies recipes I see require oil not butter.  Definitely worth saving and cooking with though.

  3. Actually, because I'm doing the saving, I was able to get someone else to do the baking work. I think I may have her make cupcakes. But yeah, I asked her and she didn't seem entirely sure herself if there was any sort of difference or catch (like having to use 3-4 times as much...you sure about that? And is there anything else I should know? Some have implied it wont taste very good either..).

  4. You'll just need more of it than fresh, but it will do the trick. My friend just made some brownies with my ABV and my girlfriend has been stoned for over 6 hours after eating one of them this morning.

  5. 3-4 times does depend on how much you vape you bud, like if you 'vape the shit outta it' then 4times should be good.  If you barely vape it then you could likely do 2 times the normal amount.  As for taste, they will taste like freshly baked cupcakes, if you make cupcakes.  There is a slight 'weedy' taste with all edibles I find but I rather enjoy it a lot.  make sure you use lowish temps for baking the product as you don't want the thc to vape while baking your edibles.   I am sure there is plenty of info on this site, just need to do some digging.  I have never baked anything over 325degrees, but I am all about trail and error, so that's just what I do.

But defiantly make oil or butter to use for cooking and don't just throw the abv into the mix, my 2 cents.

I have no relative scale, because I only know how I vape it. I'd like to think I vape it a regular amount, perhaps a little more (although I feel like I got it down to a science where I tend to reload on the last "good" bowl, once the stickines subsides and it's more a loose browned bowl). I also assume having a volcano helps over a less quality device that may not vape/heat the entire contents as evenly. I could take a pic of my saved up baggie later if a visual would at all help you weigh in.

I think most of those other instructions my friend is aware of given they largely sounds like how you'd bake with stuff regardless?

Also, err, well I assume they will taste like freshly baked cupcakes with weed in em :p . And yeah the implication was that if the stuff is vaped it will taste worse/weedier than if it was fresh, but who knows. I have had edibles before though so I am at least aware of the weedy flavor (if not a little turned off by it since I had a really bad experience with one of those super potent candy suckers, leaving it in my mouth for way longer than I should have :p ) .

  7. Lol @ the last part, well all I could say is check out some other forums, start small.  Even if you cakes are extremely potent, just eat half or whatever you will be fine.  Pics meh I know what vaped weed looks like, it would be hard to tell how potent it is anyways.  Best bet is find a recipe and do some math.  Like a cookie recipe I have is...don't remember off hand but, 1 dozen cookies = 125ML of butter, so if I put 6 grams into 125mL of butter I know that each cookies should have about 1/2 gram in it.  Hope I helped. :)

Eating 1/2 gram, not the same as smoking it. :p

  8. Well the math is more what I was curious about, given you said to use some specific increment of extra stuff depending on how vaped/potent mine is, which frankly I just dont know. But I guess just knowing I need to use more than the usual amount helps at least. And here's hoping that doesnt affect flavor.

But yeah, how much more I guess will remain a slight mystery for a bit then.

  9. Chocolate masks herb-burned peanuts taste and I have done fudge cake brownies (chocolate with pecan) that turned out well though with 1 large brownie you would be sleeping (they have their uses), but recently I have been using chocolate cake mix (the kind you are supposed to frost), and I don't frost it (as I dont want the sugar). Last time I used ~50-60 grams of vaped bud and hash mixed in and I tell you what, they were fkn strong. My mate and I are both heavy smokers and I had some on an empty stomach (an hour later I was having laughing fits, and the high lasted 5-6 hours easily). My mate crammed a bunch into his mouth and went off to space cake land. I will refine this further though I like to KISS (Keep it simple stupid). Duncan Hines or any chocolate cake mix minus the frosting and add some nuts (walnuts work & taste great) and ~50 grams (for me anyway). Happy baking & vaping

  10. It definitely won't be as strong as fresh herb obviously, but it still packs a nice punch...Generally when I make a batch of AVB brownies, I use a full ounce of AVB in the batch and they definitely give you a good body high

  11. ABV edibles will give you an INSANE body high if made correctly.
Is your ABV green, light brown, or dark brown? The darker it is, the more you have to use and the worse it will taste.
You can also water cure your vaped weed to rid the bud of smell and taste.

I smoke on 1/5. I was always taught to reduce fractions.

  12. Make a tincture. Its much better than the ABV edibles. One dropper before bed when i vape and it feels like i took a painkiller

  13. As a newbie ive only done this 3 times so far but the number of about 25% seems about right for active product still in the ABV. Being paranoid about doing way too much, once I extracted the cannabutter I let the butter set in a bowl to get a round 6 inch pizza shaped wafer. Given the number of good hits I got versus my guess on how much of the ounce was vaped that 25% seems about right.
Best thing is the vaped stuff seems like free bonus weed.

  14. Uh, except I'm definitely planning on having a friend bake me something with it. I'm not just going to make a tincture instead right now..

It's medium brown I'd say? I mean in the end I vape it a decent amount when I'm actually using it.

  15. Use the tincture to make the edible than. Alcohol is the best way to extract everything out of the plant. It can also be made discretely in your bedroom with no smell
