Coco Hempy Or Coco Smart Pots?

  1. Trying to decide between going with coco hempy pots or coco smart pots for my current grow.  I was planning to do hempy pots but after looking at smart pots I feel like I could just water my heart out on them without having to worry.  I'm a bad judge of when a plant needs watering as I've only done RDWC before but it's too hot here to do that now until I get an AC unit and/or chiller for the grow room.

    So for people that have done both or either what would you choose and why.  I've used hempy pots before and like them but would the air pruning in smart pots give better growth or is the res in a hempy pot gonna give bigger plants?  Would I need a flood table to use smart pots in a 5x5 tent or just put them in the saucer things to catch the overflow?  I dont mind having to water every day or 2x a day with smart pots if thats whats needed to make them excel put I'm not keen on the idea of getting drippers or anything like that so I'll be hand watering.

  2. Hey Aoj  :wave:
    I have never used smart pots, but i can attest to the benefits of coco hempys.

    A few things I've discovered along the way are;

    I found it almost impossible to overwater, especially when adding some perlite.
    Once they are in heavy veg, the more times you water, the faster they grow
    Hydroton works great in the rez. Easy to reuse and clean.
    Getting good quality buffered coco is important.
    Drip clean from House and Garden @ 1 ml/ gallon works great to disolve salts and eliminate the need for flushing
    Coco specific nutes are helpful to take out any guesswork with nute levels.
    The yields are excellent!

    Hope that helps :)
