Ok, so last week swim made a batch of butter. 1 O of herb to 4 sticks of unsalted butter. threw the butter in a pot till it melted, scooped the white fat out of the butter then added grounded bud. cooked on low for about 2 hours, strained it, fridged it and looked great. swim decided to make lollipops out of it. 1/4 cannabutter med heat till melted, turn heat to low, add 1/2 corn syrup, 3/4 suger mixed till sugar dissolved then turned heat to med hi till mix reached 275. at 275 mix in 3oz of desert gellatin. then poured in mold and pops were dank as they come. last night swim made more cannabutter. he followed the same steps and cannabutter looks and smells potent but one problem popped up. when mixing the new batch of cannabutter with corn syrup, sugar and jello mix, the cannabutter would seperate and sit on top of the lollipop mixture instead of actually mixing in with the lollipop mixture. I can not figure it out. the butter looks great, the bud was great and we followed the exact recipe as the first time. anyone have any idea whats wrong?

  2. Why would you use butter for a hard candy?  You should do a glycerine tincture for candy applications.  The only candies you can really make with butter are softer ones like chocolates/caramels.

  3. It worked just fine on the first batch. i understand its not the most preffered way but it works. or it did work and plenty of people use butter for hard candies. im just confused why the same recipe fused with the mixture one time then didnt fuse this last time.

  4. I know people use butter for hard candies, it's just not a great way to do it and it is SO easy to use glycerine, which is commonly used in candy making anyways.

  5. understood but do you have a clue as to what my problem may be? other than using butter instead of tincture.

  6. be careful not to stir the candy to much as the butter will separate when over stirred and once you get to the desired heat take it off the heat and pour into molds

  7. that doesnt seem to be the issue.
