Sun God Komme Bath Tub Grow

  1. First time grower. I am currently vegging these 2 week old plants under a 6500K 200 watt Komme lotus. I plan on two hoods with two 2100k 200 watt lotus bulbs for flowering. Temp average is around 78 with a humidity of 45.  Room has good ventilation. Going to use Happy Frog mix in three gal. pots  with grow big and the big bloom. Grown from the very very occasional seed I found in some top quality indica stain bud.  Is this a good setup and will the lights support these four plants?  Thanks!   PS first mistake I made was using mircle grow garden. This gave them slight nutrient burn.

  3. quite some stretch, can you get the light closer ?

The plants will thank you :D

  4. What do you feel a good distance is?  The claim from Sun God that this light does not give off heat is untrue.  Thanks man

  5. I lowered to about 4" from tops of plants....Think they will be OK?

  6. should be much better now.

No matter what anyone says, any and every light source gives off heat. And a lot of it. In any case at least 50% of the power used by the lamp becomes heat and this is considered really efficient (leds are in the range from 20 to 40% efficient plus they radiate heat through the backside to the heatsink thus they run cooler. But they dont REALLY give off less heat than any other light, just less heat on the plants)

  7. I think you should be all good, however you may get some light coverage issues when your getting towards flowering.

You'll have 4 plants with 400 watts of light, that's 100 per plant. As a rule of thumb you want a minimum of 100 per plant. So we are just about okay here.

Your bulbs are 200w CFL's correct?

CFL's are probalby the best source of light for light intensisty however they arn't great for light penetration so as the plant grows and the light gets raised, the foliage thats like 4-5 inches away from the light will barely be able to get any light. As the plant grows the problem gets bigger.

This isn't a criticism by the way, more of a heads up as I have the same problem as we speak. I have a "Fimmed" plant under a 300 watt CFL. She's just gone into flower this weekend and theres barley any light penetrating past the top of the 5 growing heads, so theres like 7 or 8 inches of dense foliage getting little to no light.

I can obviously trim away some of the large fan leaves but theres only so much trimming you can do without stressing the girls out. The other option is using LST (Low stress training) to manipulate the way she is growing to allow more light "deeper" into the plants foliage.

I fimmed at 3 weeks then LST'd until the 4 new growth tips were the same height as the main head. I may have to LST her again once she begins to stretch during flowering to allow for as complete light coverage as possible. If theres any of this that you don't understand don't hesitate to ask.

  8. Thanks for the info.

  9.  Picture was taken pre watering.  Pots were light and airy.  Going to transplant to one gallon pots in a few days using Happy Frog mix. This is nutrient burn from the miracle grow correct?  Will my plants be OK?

  10. Yea they will be fine

i got 2 plants growing under a 47 watt pannel, but they got like 2/3 of the area under it + its not on max power all the time :D

so in reality 2 plants are growing under ~24w not even accounting for the fact that only ~30% of that energy is becomes usable light.
So like 7-9W of actual photon power is still enough. Lol

  11. This is two weeks after transplanting into I gallon pots of Ocean Forrest. Temp has been a little warm at an average of 83 with a humidity of 65......

  12. Yes they may be growing, but I doubt there will be much in the terms of harvesting. I'm not hating on your setup at all here btw, I just can't see 24w seeing 1 plant through flower nevermind 2 plants. At the end of day each to their own, if it's working for you carry on by all means, I just can't comprehend that little amount of light doing much to be honest.

OP: Looking decent so far, getting some bush to them now :)

  13. mate, google "pinstripes 2nd try", the thread at icmag. he ran 3 plants at 22w and got near 40g :)

of course those were photo period plants and i have autoflowers... really stunted autoflowers.. The first 2 plants are purely an experiment, i will see the true viability of my box when i harvest the youngest plant. You are right about my (first) harvest being lame though, im not sure if its the cheap ass (soil) nutrients or lame genetics or lame efficiency chinese leds.

It has been flowering for a month and all i see there is a bunch of calyxes between frosted leaves. Maybe its beacuse they were damaged so badly, as things were looking quite darn good just for 2 weeks of flower when i destroyed the leaves. I really hope they swell up. But hey, i thought they would be goners for sure and here they are, stinkin up the place.

  14. looking good. going to veg for another month. changing hood set up. Will be burning two 250 watt 2700k's on top and two 125 2700k's on the sides. going to remove 4 smaller plants for long vegetation. am I looking good?
