Which religions contradict themselves

  1. Mine is:
Christianity, because it's been stated animals have no souls. I of course, will always argue with that.

Sound off and give your reasoning.

  2. how is that a contradiction op? humans are animals therefore animals have souls?

although i am only familiar mainly with the ones in christianity, i have a feeling more religious texts will contain contradictions, as will most any fiction book if its long enough.

  3. hahaha you're funny

    which religion DOESN'T????

  4. dont follow religion then. go seek truths and follow your own

  5. Sikhism

  6. i know little of sikhism, but isnt the sargun/nirgun bit contradictory? or is there some sort of loophole with that similar to the christian holy trinity?

  7. loops holes

    how so?

  8. All of them? Lol.

But what you describe in OP isn't a contradiction...what other teaching within christianity does it contradict? There are many contradictions you could have chosen from, though...not sure how we ended up with a non-contradiction on this thread about contradictions...

What's a soul, anyways? Are human and animal souls the same? If no, is it because the souls are different, or there are different types and layers of soul, humans having more? Is there a mental component to the soul? If yes, wouldn't that be indicative of a definite difference between human and animal souls, in one of the two ways previously described?

  9. Sargun means that he has all attributes, thus you can describe all of creation as being an extension of him. Nirgun means that he also has no attributes, thus he is on the other hand infinite and without attribute. Attributes only apply to maya, the physical creation. He is everything tgat exists and everything that does not exist.

  10. so yes, it is a contradiction? or not?

  11. No those two words are used in tje same line more than once.

  12. so....? they are used in more than one place. does that invalidate the others?

surely every sikh would tell me sargun\\nirgun is a contradiction, although not an important contradiction. i must imagine there is a contradiction. evenbif it can be explained and away.

    simply saying they are mentioned
together does not invalidate the claim surely? because that would invalidate lots of other claims.

  13. Lol... it's not a contradiction... they go together. Those two words are used together...

  14. Knowing nothing of those words besides what pickled has just described, it sounds like a 'contradiction,' or paradox, but the most basic paradox common to all mysticism, which the mystics would say is paradoxically the most ultimate truth.

Everything/nothing. It has no attributes whatsoever, is utterly beyond attributes, and yet all possible attributes are contained within it, though not encapsulating it. Thus it is everything/nothing, which seems to be what sargun/nirgun is referring to.

  15. not really about the religion as a whole but the jesus freaks, that get jesus tattoos.. like yesterday i was on yelp looking at places around me to get tattooed and i found this place down the street from me and this place is suupperr religious, all of the artwork was of jesus and angels an bible quotes. also in the reviews were people like praising the tattoo artist on his knowledge of the Lord.

    Leviticus 19:28

Ye shall not make any cuttings in your flesh for the dead, nor print any marks upon you: I am the LORD.

    the fuck outta here lmao.

  16. Lol... it's not a contradiction... they go together. Those two words are used together...

  17. Sounds very much like Taoism. More of a philosophy rather than a religion though...

  18. again, i am not current on Sikhism. however, please explain the contradiction. hoe can one thing be be both a and b, without a contradicting b? saying they are outlined together give me no further understanding.
